DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Sep 3, 2005 This beer was had on draught at Billy McHales in Lynnwood. It pours a golden amberish color with a small white head with very good lacing. The aroma is piney with floral citrus hints and a small hint of malty fruits. The flavor is medium bodied, generally hoppy and relatively light on the carbonation. Easy drinking sessionable beer, highly palate. Oranges, tangerines, citrus, florals and some pine with a fairly wet finish for an APA. For as simple as this is, its well put together. On tap at Ivars in Seattle
Pours fairly light; the aroma is hops, citrus peel, a bit of rising bread. The flavor is a pleasing mellow hoppiness with slightly stronger malt profiles than I would have expected and a gentle sourness. This is not a powerful APA, nor is it standout, but it is a reasonable enough beer to make for pleasant drinking.
beaconstreet (811), Washington DC, USA Aug 26, 2005 Delicious. Robust and wonderous. The continuation of a fair but (****)ed up night. I’m young, I’ll learn how to work people, I swear. Random bar, Freemont, Seattle. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 23, 2005 Updated: Dec 15, 2005Smells decently hoppy and looks pretty good for a pale ale. It has the lingering hop flavor that it claims- unfortuantely, as it lingers it turns funky and bad. Original score: 8,3,5,2,9.
Re-rate: Must have been a bad bottle. A crisp clean bite with enought hops to be a solid american pale ale. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Aug 23, 2005 12 oz bottle obtained in a trade with Indiana Red - Thanks Ken! - Pours amber with a short offwhite head. Aroma of citrus. Tangerine and some pineapple. Flavor is a nice balance of caramel and tangerine. The hops finish it off with enough bitterness to make it memorable. On the palate this is fairly balanced, light bodied and quite drinkable. A nice APA. AmazonMatt (284), Panama Aug 17, 2005 On tap...Pours a bronze color with a well lasting head. Typical of Deschutes beers. the aromas are a balance of fresh citrus and banana-tea like yeasts. The yeasts are a strong tell for this brewer, in my opinion, and I find it pleasing. Hops are bitter, but not overwhelming...the mouthtaste was full and lasting a decent medium dry finish with more subltle tea notes compared to this brewer’s IPA offering. I’ll go back to this one again, too. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Aug 16, 2005 Malt and hops, with neither character all that distinctive memorable. Just your average pale ale. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Aug 15, 2005 Not a big fan of the style but this was good. Clear amber body nestled beneath a frothy white head. Aroma was bread dough, citrus, pine, flowers. Medium body with a watery texture and gentle carbonation. The flavor was crisp and clean. Even refreshing. Same bready notes with touches of fruit.
