pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 15, 2005 Bottle: Pours gold and cloudy and has a malty aroma. The taste displays a good balance of hops and malts. It has a creamy feel and a great aftertaste. A few days later, I also got to sample it on tap at the brewery in Bend. Will enjoy again in the future. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 13, 2005 A good floral hop aromea to this one. Body was more of a cooper color like an IPA with a decent head and some lacing. Flavor of hops at first and near the end a sweet grapefruit flavor. Cool and crisp at start but as beer ended there was a dry citrus taste. jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Aug 11, 2005 Bottle. Nice clear amber with a perfect thick off-white head. Floral, cascade aroma with a touch of bread. Flavor has notes of caramel, grapefruit/citrus and a touch of wood and pine. Moderately sweet, ends with a nice hop bitterness Medium body with a smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Lacing hangs on the glass in sheets, great head retention. Very nice beer. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Aug 2, 2005 Bottle. Pours a hazy medium amber color with a nice quarter inch head that fades to a ring and leaves good lacing behind. Aroma is nicely piney with little bits of caramel mixed in. Medium to light bodied. Nicely hopped, the bitterness just comes to the forefront and doesn’t go overboard. Quite a nice APA. smackie (45), St. Augustine, Florida, USA Jul 29, 2005 Best all around northwest beer. If I were to walk into a Safeway, 7-11, or some average place and didn’t want to dick around, I’d grab this and feel proud. Taste great, drinks fast, has what it takes to want to consume endless bottles. Only reason it doesn’t get a 4.0 is for the hefty 7.29 + dep. price tag. 5.99 is the best price I found. This is one of my favorites. Not a bad choice unless you just don’t like good tasting beer. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jul 14, 2005 12 oz bottle in Three Rivers, CA. Not a bad sample. Pours typical golden/yellow with a decent head. Not much on the aroma side of things. Some hoppy citrus. Flavors were better with the hops coming on stronger and lingering for a while through the finish. Average APA. Wasatch (270), Layton, Utah, USA Jul 7, 2005 Dated 09/02/05. Poured a slight hazy golden color with some nice lacing. Has a very nice taste not bitter at all compared to other Pale Ale’s I’ve had in the past. Very nice body on the light side. Very light compared to other Pale Ale’s, very drinkable. I could get use to drinking alot of these (for me 3-4). I really like the taste. A very socialble brew.
LJBrewing (22), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Jul 6, 2005 A nice hoppy contribution to the Pale Ale scene. If you don’t know the wonders of the Cascade Hop you need to try this brew. Open the Bottle and your hit with the spice/citrus of the Cascade. As you drink the refreshing carbonation and Hops dominate the palate. Ends with a drying crispness ala Cascade.
A worthy addition to the overcrowded APA scene.
