Macanudo (14), USA Apr 3, 2005 Tastes a little bitter. The aroma is a bit strong too. Color is good, pours nicely as well. Has an odd finish, almost soapy. neocon (34), Gold Canyon, Arizona, USA Mar 30, 2005 Nice sweet smell. Body is golden yellow with white head and a little lacing. Has an after taste but isn’t bad. DrunkenWeasel (218), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 25, 2005 Smells of nice dry hops, pours amber with almost no white head and no lacing. Taste is real nice hoppy and dry, but gives way to a moldy aftertaste that I found quite unpleasing. BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA Mar 20, 2005 Bottle courtesy of Indiana Red: Pours to a light amber with rose highlights showing through in the light; small off-white head that quickly reduces to a ring around the outside of the glass. Aroma is a yeasty fruit, pilsner-like malts, a bit of spicy pale malt/rubber band, and leather. Light bodied. Taste is initially more fruity than I expected (apples, pear, berries, touch of banana) with notes of light malts, cereal grains, grass, leaves, biscuits, light wood, with a hint of citrus/grapefruit towards the end. Finishes somewhat sweet with notes of butter, grass, and mild citrus. TAR (2088), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Mar 19, 2005 Clear orange peach. Balanced nose of leathery/English yeast and piney hop perfume with hints of apricot and woody malt. Loads of fruity esters. Tightly robust carbonation. Firmly bodied. First sip yields a glut of earthy yeast. Mild datelike and honeyed biscuit sweetness with bits of grain dust caressing the palate. Trace acidity couples with pungent citrus rind and a savory duo of husky-accented toasty pale malt flavors and nutty yeast. Fruity and lightly buttery, throughout, but ends up finishing appetizingly dry and hoppy as the firm yeast stamp accentuates the dryness. Just a solid hybrid all the way through.
