The aroma is slighlty sweet and malty but hoppy with nice grapefruit and pine notes. The flavor is bitter and hoppy with a note of pepper and a touch of grapefruit with an underlying sweet maltiness. Medium bodied, smooth and dry. Beerlando (2370), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Updated: Jul 29, 2007Rated 7/27/07. Bottle at Freakin Frog in Las Vegas, NV. Cloudy amber body with a thin film for a head that leaves behind a spotty lacing. The aroma was unexpectedly fruity, but appealing. I really picked up alot of banana, but there were also some citrus hops dancing around on top of a bready, yeasty background. The flavor was very sweet and fruity, which I again was not expecting. The hop bitterness is on the low side, which is disappointing because I think a hoppier profile could really make for an interesting brew here. Very smooth, almost creamy medium body. Not a bad brew but a bit too sweet for me. I would even dare to say that this could be interpreted as a fruit beer. alexanderj (2294), Chino Hills, California, USA

Color was a dark amber with an off whitish head. Aroma of NW hops; fruity and earthy, with a small dash of spice. Flavor was pretty dry; earthy and a bit fruitier. Reminds me of my trip up there. Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale pours a vibrant orange copper color with a thin white crown. The aroma is just like that of Goldenrod honey. It also tastes a lot like Goldenrod honey with some Cascade hops. I know this for sure because I recently made some mead using Goldenrod honey, Cascade hops, peaches, and cinnamon and could recognize the honey and hops blindfolded now! It has a slight honey sweetness at first and then the finish has a mild signature Cascade hop bitterness to it that lingers nicely. Palate: Medium body, mild to moderate carbonation, and smooth. Overall this is a really good pale ale and different than most available because of it’s unique honey-like flavors than remind me of mead. I really enjoyed this brew and hope to have more in the future. This would make an excellent session beer... Miksu (2241), Jyväskylä, Finland
