COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is base camp, where any craft brew exploration begins. A distinct hop nose and hop-forward flavor make Mirror Pond the quintessential Pale Ale. It is aromatically complex, multi-layered, and unmistakably “right.”

This is a solid American Pale Ale, being rather light but still characterful and fairly well balanced. Slightly reddish deep gold, it has a medium, pale tan head that shirnks steadily to a foamy lasting ring and wisps. It has a hint of lace. Aroma’s light toasty grain, citrus, leaves, dust, and hay. It tastes similar, with lightly toasty grain with hint of caramelized bread, faintly burnt grapefruit and orange peel, green leaves. It has light sweetness balanced with light bitterness. It’s a bit too strong on the grapefruity-citrusy hops, making it seem slightly one-dimensional and mundane, but still has some complexity and balance underneath.

Light retention and light lacing. Smells of floral, caramel and pine. Tastes of floral, caramel malt and citrus peel. Semi-bitter aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle into IPA glass. Pours a clear golden colour. Aroma is of citrusy hops. Taste is of citrusy hops and a little breadyness. Quite a good beer. Could drink this all day. -- rated via 'Find A Beer' for Blackberry 10

On tap at the Wagon Wheel. Slightly dull aroma, lacks "pop". Hazy light yellow pour. Taste is good, juicy and piney at the same time. Low bitterness, balanced for easy drinking. Will get again.

The Mirror Pond pours a yellowish orange bronze with a thick beige head that lasts a good while and leaves plenty of evidence of its existence. The aroma is earthy hops and caramel. The flavor is caramel and floral hops. Overall this is a decent beer.

On draft at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill. Pours a clear caramel with an off white head. Aroma has notes of citrus, pine needles, and cedar. Taste is balanced. Citrus with a bit of bread, caramel, grass, and pine. Medium body and carbonation. Clean and refreshing in the mouth. Overall alright. Citrus, grass, and pine needles with a bit of bready/caramel.

Draft. Creamy and extremely hoppy, with a great dandelion, citrus, and grassy nose. True to the aromas, the flavor of the beer is unctuous at five percent, which is an accomplishment, and there is a nice, long juicy-bitter finish to round the beer out.

12oz bottle. A real throwback. Pretty much in a different realm than say, Zombie Dust. Shows the influence of British brewing culture on 80s, 90s breweries. Bland earthy hop and malt combination. It is balanced I suppose, but the end product is pretty bland. I’d like to believe this was a better product in the 90s..but who knows. Caramel malts a little heavy. OK, but very old school.

"i’ve found that when Mirror Pond is on sale...it’s because it’s old, which greatly diminishes the flavor. Better than many give it credit for fresh. Hoppier than many pales. Good, but not among the best. Make sure you’re not getting 6 month old leftovers, and you’ll get a good beer. Better yet, get it on tap! 10/11-fresh hop mirror pond in 22’s...really nice aroma, soft feel, and flavor. i’d rate at least a 4 as a separate beer. just goes to show me how good MP can be when fresh. MP 12’s average around 3.5, on tap a high 3 to a 4, fresh hop bomber (very nice) 4+."

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2014 12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Yeasty nose of fragrant citrus. The taste is grapefruit like, floral and light. Then, a surprising malty and dry finish. Moderate bitterness allows the hoppy flavor to penetrate nicely. Good carbonation and great balance make for a delicious and thirst quenching session brew. Love the 5% ABV.
