This is base camp, where any craft brew exploration begins. A distinct hop nose and hop-forward flavor make Mirror Pond the quintessential Pale Ale. It is aromatically complex, multi-layered, and unmistakably ďright.Ē

Draft - Not sure if what I had was an accurate representation of the beer. Draft lines may have been dirty. Tired malt flavor with a muted hop aroma and bitterness. I could tell there was something good here.

12oz bottle. Pours a darker orange amber. Aroma is sweet caramel, toasty malts and attractive American hops. Deliciously balanced, clean, and lightly bitter. A standard setting beer.

Great pale ale. Very drinkable. Strong flavor for a pale ale. Hoppy. Light citrusy taste.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2016 Bottle poured into a shaker glass. Copper orange color with a billowing tan head that leaves nice lacing. Lots of caramel malt in the aroma along with some lemon and pine. Taste is lemon pepper, grapefruit, a touch of pine, grass, and floral hops. Aftertaste is much the same with some added malt that lingers with the lemon. Medium body and carbonation compliment everything else thatís going on. This might be my new favorite summer beer and itís certainly a welcome break from some of the obscenely hopped IPAs out right now. Not what I would call an APA but tasty regardless of the label.

Really good. Pours orange/yellow with an off white head. Aroma is mostly sweet malt. Creamy mouthfeel light citrus notes in the finish.

Bready, minerally nose with a touch of citrus and then a touch of ripe banana ester as it warms up. Pleasant bitterness, mid-malty body, no harshness or overbittering, but no noble hop finesse. A very drinkable pale ale at a moderate 5% ABV.

Amber color with off-white head. Aroma is on the malty side with some bread crust notes and a touch of caramel. Taste is really balanced. Starts with citrus fruits and continues with caramel malts, overall quite floral. A light bitterness on the finish, lingering in the aftertaste too. Medium to light body, smooth feeling but also well carbonated. Overall itís a nice pale ale but not very aromatic.

Mild pale smell. Great caramel color. Even taste, good palate. Solid offering but not that exciting.

355 ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Clear amber colour with faint residual yeast sediments; One finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 90 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with active slight carbonation; Slightly fragrant aroma of Ale malt, with strong caramel, light grapefruits, floral, light honey, molasses, fair resins, bread, light lemon and light grass; Medium sweet light taste of Ale malt, with grains, light grapefruits, very light caramel, floral, strong molasses, light bread, lemon, moderate bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth Feel is light Ale maltyness in a fairly watery background. Pretty thin but with grainy Amber malty taste with light caramel. Light grapefruits and floral. Strong sweetness and rather low hops. Fair lemon to round. So soÖ Hoppiness is light grapefruits, floral, light honey, resins, light lemon and grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is close to moderate for an abrupt, medium astringent sweet bitter finish; Slightly dry after taste. Sweet and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: I would have like a sweet APA for a change, but this oneís hoppiness is monotone as well as low-fi, which canít balance the maltís strong grainy sweetness. Topped with a fairly runny body and palate, itís more like a sweet Amber Ale. APA? No.
