Tap @ Bittercreek: Pours a hazy gold color with a nice light white head. The nose is fresh and light with a husk and spicy snappy wheat note along with some fresh light citrusy hops. The flavor is very estery with bananas and cloves along with light wheat and some husky notes. The spelt adds a light herbal quality that also lightens up the mouthfeel a bit. Nice spin on the Hefe, I like it, sometimes the wheat can make the mouthfeel too big and sappy yet starchy, not sweet.

On tap at TCBF, pours hazy golden yellow. Aroma and flavour of banana, citrus and wheat. Run-of-the-mill, but solid.

draft. unfiltered cloudy light orange. pale, mild, quiet and transparent throughout. mild wheat, light dusting of clove and banana, some dishsoap and detergent (also mild) with a strange and somewhat unpleasant spice character. medium-light body, lightly lactic.

Draught on the brewery tour in Bend. Hazy gold color with a thick white head. Spice, banana, and light wheat aroma (or is that spelt?). Light flavor in general with some sweet spelt and light yeast character of clove and banana. A bit hard and course in the mouth. The spelt does seem to bring a slightly different character than your typical red or white wheat, but is pretty similar overall. The yeast is definitely weizen, but just an ok use of it.

[2989-20100627] Tap. Yeasty little paper aroma. Slightly hazy, pale orange body with a quick foamy white head. Mild yeasty flavour has hints of tangerine and a bitter lemon finish. Medium body is bitter. Nice and mild. An interesting concept, would like to see more breweries try things like this.
