Dunkel is the German word for "Dark", referring to the rich mahogany color of this malt-dominated lager. Brewed with a large portion of Pilsner and Munich malt, this beer is soft and mellow with a medium body, Hints of chocolate give balance to its delicate nose. Higher alcohol content then the regular Trees of Doom at 38 IBI’s and an ABV of 5.8%.

From a draft pour at the Bond Street brewpub in Bend, this poured a garnet color with a light tan head and very good lacing The nose is caramel malts but there is the aroma of sweet chocolate as well. The body is medium and the mouthfeel is smooth. The flavor tends to favor the malts and the finish is mild leaving a little chocolate malt on the palate. Similar to the regular Trees of Doom but slightly richer.. I enjoyed this beer.
