RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Mar 12, 2008 Bottled. Slight coffee aroma, pours jet black, with a persistant light brown head. Tastes of strong coffee and dark chocolate, with some bitterness. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Goes down pretty smooth. What a great name for a stout. Gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Mar 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with thick light brown head. Nice hop aroma. Nice coffee, barley, chocolate flavor. Not oppressive body. A very solid stout. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Mar 11, 2008 12 oz bottle from a trade with SuzyGreenberg. pours black with a nice tan hea that lasts and lasts. leaves nice lacings on the glass. aromas are roasted malts with roasted barley, coffee and chocolate coming through. sweet flavour profile with a slightly bitter finnish. borders on being a foreign stout with all the sweetness but a very good stout none the less. id gladly have it at anytime and id trade for it again. greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Mar 8, 2008 12 oz bottle. Finally rating this beer. This is a regular vistor to my house. Pours black with a thin creamy head. After the first sip you can taste the roasty malt, chocolate and espresso. Full bodied and the mouthfeel is sticky. The lack of aroma is the only reason this did not recieve a rating of 4+. Robyn04 (1), USA does not count Mar 8, 2008 very very good! I tried it bottled and on nitro. 10 times better on nitro. highly recommend. Of course anything Deschutes makes is always worth trying biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Mar 7, 2008 Solid black with a wisp of a tan head. Milky burnt fruity hoppy aroma with leather and cocoa. Big hoppy roast flavor with caramel and lingering sweetness. Long oily finish with relatively low bitterness. Awesome stout. darn1207 (529), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Mar 5, 2008 Updated: Sep 28, 200812oz bottle kate brought back from olympia, wa. black pour with nose of smoke, coffee and chocolate. toasted malt, caramel, and alcohol on the taste. finishes crisp and a little astringent (but not in a bad way). kate: 8.5 Taverner (826), San Ramon, California, USA Mar 3, 2008 Excellent EXCELLENT stout! Full flavored - the hops are there just not as prominent as the rich, chocolate malt. Pours black, not brown - and you can’t shine a light through this stuff. Flavor is light and heavy at the same time. Notes of plum, chocolate, wood and smoke.
