Commercial Description:
Smooth and black, like the volcanic rock, Obsidian Stout is a solid, satisfying beer with a rich roasted-malt flavor. Obsidian Stout gets is inspiration from one of the world's largest obsidian flows at Newberry Volcano--just a few miles south of the brewery. "The Big Obsidian Flow," as they call it, covers more than 700 acres with shiny black obsidian.

Nice subtle roasted malt aromas. Creamy textures with a burnt coffee/french roast finish. A little bit of sweetness in the taste along with some cocoa. This one is medium bodied and well rounded for a stout. Good and smooth.

Courtesy Quake. Black/brown. Small brown cap. Roasty, chocolatey malt in the nose, not much else. Flavor adds bittersweet chocolate and a bit of coffee. Simple but good. Medium body, balanced carbonation. Decent, very drinkable.

Bottle. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel malt, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is mostly roasted malt and coffe, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Nice aftertaste, maybe a little too much coffee for me.

Black with a big tan head. Smells and tastes sweet and a little roasty. Good stout but I think it really should be a sweet stout instead of just a stout. It’s a bit too sweet for my liking as an everyday stout. Still though it’s solid.

Bottle. Roasted malts with chocolate aroma. Fairly clean and dry finish - fairly bitter and very drinkable. Not bad

Bottle... Poured a black tone with a fluffy, brown head. Roasty, malt, and chocolates on the nose. Really enjoyable and smooth palate, flavors of chocalate, malt, hops, caramel, vanilla bean and a bit leafy.. very smooth finish.

Black with a thick dark tan soapy head. Sweet aroma with some light roast notes, a bit of hops, too. Lighter palate. Light chocolate roast flavors over a slight hop middle and bitter finish. Wish I could get enough to give it a proper session.
