Finish of a coffee with bittersweet chocolate, and a twist of banana at the end. w0nderb0b (6), Lacey, Washington, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2006 This beer holds a special place in my heart, i used to think drinking beer was about chugging yellow fizzy piss beer. I drank one of these, hated it at first, but kept drinkin it. here i am years later writing reviews on hella yummy brews. sigh. this beer is great, very dark in color and flavor (not to mention the head) can get it year round at the bars in olympia. has a very distinct roasted taste that i enjoy Miksu (2218), Jyväskylä, Finland

Best by 8/16/06. Roasted malt aroma. Poured opaque black with giant tan head. No discernable carbonation. Medium bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and roasted malt flavor. Finished dry with lingering hop bitterness. Some chalkiness in the mouth. Though rather monodimensional in the flavor department, this is a good drinkable stout with an edge toward bitterness. iskirwan1 (66), monument, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 4, 2006 Black body. Aroma is roasted coffee with notes of chocolate, caramel and grapefruity hops. Probably would have been much hoppier and bitter if it wasn’t for the nitro thing... based on my nitro IPA experience. Sorta reminded me of Guinness... which to me is bad. Still, a solid stout. Would be nice to see an imperialized version of it if there isn’t one already. 2beerguys (299), North Shore, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 2, 2006 This stout pours to a black body with a dark reddish-brown, fizzy head. Poor lacing and a fully diminishing head contribute to a lack of visual appeal. Aroma is of sweet cookie malts. Initial taste is lightly sweet with a moderately bitter finish. Watery and thin on the palate, it has a burnt taste with light carbonation. Dry on the mouthfeel. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic
