Commercial Description:
Smooth and black, like the volcanic rock, Obsidian Stout is a solid, satisfying beer with a rich roasted-malt flavor. Obsidian Stout gets is inspiration from one of the world's largest obsidian flows at Newberry Volcano--just a few miles south of the brewery. "The Big Obsidian Flow," as they call it, covers more than 700 acres with shiny black obsidian.

Onn Nitro... Nice buubbly nitro head that slowly joins the black goodness below. Very gentle smell that does not beat you over the head with over strong scents, but ones that entice you to find what lurks witthin the glass before you. The nitro gives a smoothness that unveeils the flavors before you with chocolate, burnt caramel and a softly balanced bitterness in it’s aftertaste. Having this on Nitro is a real treat for any stout lover. It takes an amazing stout and just brings it up to that...holy jeez I can’t even believe how good this is level. Great in the bottle...un-believable on Nitro.

12 oz bottle. 6.4% abv. Obsidian is a fitting name. Black color with a tan, foamy head that leaves nice lacing down the glass. Aroma of roasted barley & dark chocolate. Burnt malts and rich dark chocolate are abundant in the taste. Molasses flavors coat the tongue and there’s also a lingering coffee finish. Velvety smooth texture and goes down ridiculously easy for a stout. I can see why this is near the top of it’s class.

Bottle from Ken (kenb) Thanks! This is what a stout should taste like. Pours out a dark black color without much of a head (I’m seeing a pattern here..?). Smell is coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and sweet. Taste is similar, with a nice linger hop profile to compliment the rich malty chocolate flavors. An absolutely very good stout, nothing bad to say about this one.

12 oz bottle from Roths Grocery. Roasted coffee, toffee, licorice aroma. Very nice. Full roasty flavor, chocolatey but subdued chocolate. Great balance between malts and hops. Very nice lingering hoppy aftertaste. This is a great American Stout and a very good price!

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. The aroma is quite roasty with some caramel and even a hint of smoke. The flavor is also very roasty with an occasional hint of chocolate and a slightly smoky, ashy finish. Tasty.

Big hiss is well met with a frothy and deep tan head that’s 3/4" thick. Below it lies an opaque and midnight brown body. Aroma ejects singed marshmallows, ash, lactic dark chocolate, smoldered s’mores, soggy cocoa puffs and mocha cappuccinos. Deciduously dry and bitter flavor. Espresso grinds latch on and punch caffeinated holes in the mouth’s outer realm for the sake of aeration. Dark chocolate, cocoa beans and arid mocha torte line the tongue like the bottom realm of tiramisu, and then it’s tickled by a matchstick. Warming vibes and an acutely dry tongue sweep keep the well-rehearsed number at rising star status. Hard crushed mocha beans with a lick of burnt french torte crust come through in the finish. Thanks for the bottle, tpkenned!
