4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours smooth jet black with full, milk chocolaty brown head. Smells like roasted malts and barley, thatís it, if you donít like those smells you probably wonít like the smell of this. It has a strong roasty flavor, very little hop flavor, but very strong, roasted malt flavor. Full-bodied with a smooth, creamy texture and very mild mouth-carbonation, Deschutes Obsidian Stout has a malty finish and has a little lasting sweetness.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle picked up at GBBF. Pours a very dark ruby/browm black with a tan head. Lightly sweet vanilla milk chocolate aroma (reminds me of sam smith choc organic). Light to medium body, Light bitter coffee, light dark chocolate, a touch of citrus hops initially then you get a ton of it - lemon, pine, grass and choccy lime. Smooth initially though. A decent beer, lots of citrus hops for a stout. A bit messy.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dirty brown with copperish tinges on the outside of the glass. Aromas toasty, cooking, with some sweet smell Iím unable to discern. Moderately carbed, it has flavours of choc, raisins and a brown sugar hint. Hops are more obvious than in traditional stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
I love the robust espresso character, the thick and fluffy palate and the pitch black color and tan head. This is a true stout. Pretty good flavor. And respectable ABV for the breed. Nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A new world stout, with lots of alcohol and a noticeable hop presence. I love the dirty brown head. There are raisins, coffee, liquorice and toast in the aroma and those grapefruit and alcohol flavours give it a real kick. Very pleasant.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle pours an opaque dark brown/black with full mocha head and good lacing. Aroma has chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Taste is sweet with a hint of smokiness and some bitterness in the finish. Body is only medium, with light carbonation. A well-crafted if somewhat thin stout Iíve tried on a couple of occasions.
