COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep, robust and richly rewarding, this is beer to linger over. Obsidian has distinct notes of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt and black barley, with just enough hop bite to cut the sweetness.

Serving: from bottle--purchased at Total Wine & More. Aroma: chocolate. Appearance: small, frothy, brown, initial head with fully diminishing longevity and fair lacing. Black-hued body. Taste: moderately sweet initial taste with heavily bitter, roasted malty finish with hint of smoke and long duration. Palate: medium to full bodied with oily texture, lively carbonation. Overall: very good, but the heavily bitter finish was too much for my tastes.

12 oz bottle. BB 03/02/15. From saveur-biere.com.
Pitch black colour with a small tan head. Sweet roasted malt, vanilla, liquorice, coffee and Roasted malt, coffee, mild hops, liquorice, some caramel sweetness and some bitterness in the aroma. A bit thin. But tasty.

Black body, brown head. Aroma has sweet roasted malts, liqourice, some ash, robust and midicinal hoppiness. Light sweet sugary coffee. This at first and the comes quite intense roasted notes. Liqourice and alcohol in finish. Thin and turns bit watery, which is strange.

08.26.14. Best by date. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 04.06.14. A: Completely opaque black. 1/2 finger head. S: Cocoa, chocolate, roasty malt. Some sweetness too. T: Roasty malt, chocolate. M: Creamy smooth. O: I poured some of this over ice cream and it was very good. On its own, this did not have any weird hop bitterness, which I can’t stand in a stout. The roasted malt kept the sweetness in check.

Éjfekete színű, kakaó-barnán pöffeszkedő habot produkáló, testesnek ható folyamot képző főzet, savanykásra pirított maláta, keserű csokoládé, friss komló jegyeit magán hordozó illatokkal. Bársonyos kortyai közepesen teltek, igényes tartalommal megtöltöttek, a letisztult, klasszikus vonalvezetésű stoutok kedvelőinek igényeire szabottak.

12 oz. bottle from BevMo. Aptly named as it pours absolutely jet black with a finger and a half high dark tan head that dies quickly. Nose of roasted malts with some espresso and dark chocolate.Taste of dark, bitter roasted malt underlying the coffee flavors and semi-sweet dark chocolate playing nicely together without any of them dominating. Finishes dry. Nice carbonation helps to moderate. Flavors are nicely complex, rich and smooth. An excellent stout.

Best by 5/13/15. Opened with huge hiss, good sign, bottle conditioning in full effect. Black as black. Smells like cocoa, coffee, and some faint sweet malt. Tastes more of the same and quite smooth. Nice drinkable black beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Color negro con reflejos rojizos y espuma beige duradera. Aromas de regaliz, maltas tostadas, caramelo y leves frutos rojos. Cuerpo medio, inicio ligeramente dulce de melaza con final tostado moderadamente seco.

Subtle Coffee aroma, hints of bread and chocolate. Well defined roast hits both the nose and tongue. Deathly black with that wonderful froth. The combination of malt and hop hit the nail on the head here. Well balanced and only a slight hint of the alcohol in the aftertaste. In the mouth I am getting the feeling that I chose a good one for my first stout. I am satisfied.

Opaque black, sludge like appearance. No head. Absolutely remarkable chocolate milk, roast, and vanilla aroma. Texture is surprisingly thin on the palate. Smooth and creamy. Initial taste is dark chocolate and roast, and the finish consists of a wonderful combination of sweet vanilla, milk chocolate, roast, and mildly bitter hop. Gustatory bliss.
