Commercial Description:
Smooth and black, like the volcanic rock, Obsidian Stout is a solid, satisfying beer with a rich roasted-malt flavor. Obsidian Stout gets is inspiration from one of the world's largest obsidian flows at Newberry Volcano--just a few miles south of the brewery. "The Big Obsidian Flow," as they call it, covers more than 700 acres with shiny black obsidian.

Bottled. Slight coffee aroma, pours jet black, with a persistant light brown head. Tastes of strong coffee and dark chocolate, with some bitterness. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Goes down pretty smooth. What a great name for a stout. Gives me that warm fuzzy feeling.

This dark brown ale poured with a decent tan head and a pleasant malty aroma. There is a very rich flavor of chocolate and coffee. There are no notable flaws in this brew, making it a great value for the style.

Aromas of cereal grains, vegetable, molasses, licorice, charcoal and vanilla with floral hops backing. Kinda reminds me of rootbeer. Flavors of dark chocolate, smoky coffee, charred malts, and nuts. Some dark winey/fruity notes; cherry and plum. Creamy palate, lots of bubbly. Dry finish.

Pours a dark dirt/tar, chocolate brpown with tan head that dissipates to a tan lacing. Aroma is nutty, chocolaty and malty. Strong coffee flavor with roasted malts. Body is mild and medium.
