COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep, robust and richly rewarding, this is beer to linger over. Obsidian has distinct notes of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt and black barley, with just enough hop bite to cut the sweetness.

Bottle. Black, black and black. Definitely smooth in character, although its mouthfeel is similar to an imperial stout. Incredibly roasty body under one of the darkest brown heads I've seen in a beer. Probably just one will do ya.

Opaque black, sludge like appearance. No head. Absolutely remarkable chocolate milk, roast, and vanilla aroma. Texture is surprisingly thin on the palate. Smooth and creamy. Initial taste is dark chocolate and roast, and the finish consists of a wonderful combination of sweet vanilla, milk chocolate, roast, and mildly bitter hop. Gustatory bliss.

Poured an opaque black with a very fine mahogany edge tint and a one-finger dark tan foamy head that retained very well leaving a thin head for the entire drink. Laced OK. Carbonation medium. Aroma of sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of dark fruits. Taste first up dominated by roasted malt plus sweet chocolate and with a light to moderate bitterness. Medium body. Creamy smooth, dry and with a long lingering roast malt bitterness. Very nice!

Opaque brown, small off-white head. A bitter roasted coffee aroma and taste to go along with the Deschute’s hop profile.

It will not be the last time I have this stout, what a black bewtie with a good sized head which lasted well, earthy aroma, long lasting flavours of chocolate and coffee along with roasted malts, bitter full bodied stout, slick, excellent.

From bottle, 2013 Class of ’88. Black pour with thick tan head and lots of thick lacing. Aroma is espresso and roasted malts. Taste is expresso, nicely bitter with a very slight sweetness behind. Medium mouthfeel, no more. Bitter finish. This has been my stocked stout for years. Always good.

Nice roasty aroma, with hints of coffee and chocolate. Pours an opaque black with a thin tan head. Slick mouthfeel with a strong roasted flavor, and a slightly slick mouthfeel. The beer fades into a slightly bitter, roasted finish. A very nice stout to spend some time with.

I can’t believe this is my first time trying this beer. It pours a very dark brown color with a beautiful tan head of creamy foam. The aroma is classic with hard roasted coffee, dark chocolate, hints of graham cracker and tobacco ash. The flavor is really nice with more hard roasted grains, hints of ash and black licorice. Dark chocolate. It has a very bitter, roasted finish. It’s pretty viscous and creamy on the palate as well. Hints of caramel and sasparilla add some complexity as it warms. This is a top notch stout as the ratings seem to agree. I guess I’ve been missing out all these years.
