This West Coast IPA is like that sweet little Nordic trail off the main trail of Meissner - it takes the high road. Using Pilsner base malt, it is light on malt but not hops. With a hop bill consisting of Amarillo, Centennial, Northern Brewer, and experimental hop X, we packed in the pine along with the citrus notes we love.

Cloudy golden color. Big piny vegetal hop aroma. A little malt in the flavor but the hops are big and bitter. Nice beer but a little on the bitter piny side for me.

Bottle. Clear orange-gold with a medium-sized white head. Hoppy aroma impression is mandarin orange, pine, lychee candies, and something that is best described as StreeTarts or dippin dots... powdery / sugary / fruity / artificial... that mild but distinct dirtiness that Deschutes has is some many of their beers. Medium bodied, chewy, rich, gripping, lightly acidic, moderately sweet, bitterness a little overblown for the sugar level. Juicy and oily across the middle and back, expresses hops well, grips the back of the mouth, creates saliva... I gotta say, other than the slight dirtiness in the nose, Deschutes did well with this one. Not overly sugary or under-attenuated like some of their other recent IPAs, and the hops resemble that mandarin orange character I sometimes get in Cascade, along with some kind of mild farm / game notes (like Strisselspalt or Neomexicanus).

PDX Brewpub #5. Hazy golden yellow. Aroma is pine hops. Taste the same. Very bitter. Not as good as fresh squeezed.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Stone Ruination IPA pint glass From: My friend Don Price: N/A Purchased: N/A; Received July 25, 2015 Consumed: July 25, 2015 Misc.: Best by Oct. 15, 2015 Thanks Don! Poured a golden, pale, clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. A few bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Some sporadic spots of lacing on the sides of the glass. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.13) Smelled wet Cascade, pine, spicy Simcoe (but probably Chinook), Citra zest, light resin, faint floral and mandarin rind. Reminding me a lot of Fresh Squeezed IPA. (Smell - 4.13) Taste followed the nose and, in my opinion, followed Fresh Squeezed IPA. Got bitter pine cone, wet Cascade, earthy resin, Chinook, caramel, tangerine rind and even some grapefruit. (Taste - 4.00) Medium body. Oily texture. Soft carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.00) This was nice for the style, but still reminded me a lot of the Fresh Squeezed IPA. Fresh Squeezed IPA adjace? (Overall - 4.00) NOTE: I looked up what I gave Fresh Squeezed IPA and it was a 4.02, just 0.01 behind tonight’s rating of Pinedrops IPA. 4.03 90 A

Bottle from the Malt Shoppe, with a best by date of 11/11/2015. Very clear pale orange pour with little head. Aroma has - duh - pine. And pine. And some toffee. Taste is of sprucey tangy pine, light tangy fruits, oranges and sweet toffee. Light to medium bodied and syrupy, with a bit of alcohol. Finishes bitter tangy with a solid sweet presence. Very pine-y. Quite one dimensional. 13.5

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste citrus, pine, sweet. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It’s solid, but not really remarkable. Easy drinking, definitely sessionable, I would select this over several other craft beers if given a range to select from, but will not seek it out again at a bottle shop of over 400 beers.

Pours hazy copper with a thin white head, moderate retention. Aromas of pine resin, grapefruit, tangerine, mango, and biscuit. Medium-thin body, velvety, dry, moderate carbonation. Minimally sweet, with an enjoyably strong lingering bitter finish. Delightfully over-hopped.

Pinedrops is a perfect name for this beer. Tons of pine in the aroma and in the taste. It’s like you’re walking into a pine forest. Very hop forward with hardly any malt. PERFECT. It’s so tasty. Super bitter and dry. Overall and absolute winner of an ipa, I would drink this until I was in another galaxy. Cheers!
