This is a pretty darn good tasting beer. Who knew Deschutes could pull off a European style?

Bomber from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. White gold with some haze. Active carbonation. An almost white fluffy head is 2 plus fingers. A little earth and gentle fruit in the otherwise malty aroma. Authentic aroma. Flavor is of grapefruit and pineapple with sulfur. Grass and herbal notes. Mild bitterness and earth. Something like paper. The finish has the herbal flavor leading. It is something like wet hops. A tasty American Pilsner.

Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours a pale gold with a big creamy white head. Nose of grapefruit, grassy, and floral hops. Medium body and a super smooth mouth feel. Flavor is earthy, and there is fruit. Pineapple. The citrus continues on and the floral hops arrive. There is something herbal. Very dry crisp bitter finish. This is really easy drinking and enjoyable. Excellent beer.

@ Deschutes 16-3-10: Lite mer pale ale än pilsner. Lite bitter smak med toner av vitt bröd.

On tap at the Brewpub in Portland. A bit hazy golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of bread, some citrus and something that reminded of pop corn. Medium bitter finish.

In fairness I’m not a huge pioneer fan, however I’m enjoying this. Nice bright citrus and grass aromas. Light body and mellow but present hops. Overall pretty good and excellent for this style.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has sweet grain and hay with a bit of grass bitterness underlying. Flavor combines crisp grains with grass and a bit of hay.

22 oz bottle poured. Still getting used to the new look of the Deschutes brand bottles. I didn’t even recognize this one when I picked it up. Lucky for me, I somehow hadn’t rated it anyway. Pours a clear golden color with a ton of foam head and lace. High carb. Not a whole lot of standout characteristics here, but the flavor is pretty good, and very easy to drink. I don’t actively seek them out much, but sometimes after a long day, a middle of the line pilsner is exactly what is needed. Not bad.

Tap at Deschutes in Portland. Clear golden pour with a smaller white head. Fresh grass aroma. Some grassy bitterness on taste. Really well balanced and well made.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours an almost unfiltered look of hazy dense gold, orange and brown tones with a thick head that disappears and leaves traces of lacing. Very low carbonation, easy cool mouthfeel. Smell is sweet, honey, grass, earth, with pine and hops - all very balanced. Taste follows, wow this is balanced. Sweet but with a resilient bitterness, a hop and pine conflict that backs the sweetness and leaves a long, dry, bitter aftertaste. Amazing beer, the definition of pilsner

Pine Mountain is a little stubborn, not letting us scan it first. It was $4.99 for a 22oz.
