COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it’s an insider’s ride to fresh thrills.

A 12 fl oz bottle with a best by date of 7th May 2016 and poured into a Moonzen Teku glass. It poured a clear amber copper colour with a two finger off white head that retains pretty well, leaving nice streaky lacing. Aromas are grapefruit, pine, mandarin, apple, brown sugar and hints of pineapple and grassiness. Taste was bready and caramel malt sweetness heavy with bitter grapefruit pith and juicy grapefruit on the finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Overall, this was pretty good but perhaps a bit too malt heavy for my liking.

Medium to dark copper colored with an off white head. Tangerines, sweet floral hops, caramel, bubblegum. Subtle rich malts, has a bitter follow that seems to gain strength after you swallow. Very easy drinking to the point of being dangerous.

12 oz bottle. Translucent ruby/burnt red color with a white and creamy thin white head. Aroma is bready malts, cherries, light citrus, grass. Pretty light body for the appearance. Darker caramel malts, a bit of woodiness, dried fruit, and a touch of chestnut. Finish is somewhat sticky with a little bitterness.

Bottle - nice rusty red color, some citrus and earthy hops up front and a biscuit caramel malty taste to balance it out. Medium body. One of the better Deschutes in my opinion.

Sharp, zesty, warming aromatics of grapefruit, brown sugar, orange peel, honey-lemon, ripe pineapples, and even a bit of eucalyptus. Burnt sugar and malts give an ever sweeter impression. Moderately carbonated body of medium viscosity. The taste is medium bitter and medium sweet, almost like a U.S. barneywine light. Substantial and interesting, if not particularly memorable in any given direction.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 3/4/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/pine hops and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding pale ale! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

This is a decent IPA. Not particularly interesting. Drinkable but would not want more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours slightly hazy burnt sienna. Thin off white head. Good lacing. Aroma is malt, and a little funky. Not necessarily in a good way. Flavor is malty, mildly sweet, slightly soapy, mild bitterness and earthy, pine hop. Somehat dry. Very good, off putting aroma notwithstanding.

Bottle@home, from Wine Spot, Cleveland, USA. Medium slightly sweet aroma with malts, berries and some toffee. Copper/amber color with small white head and clear liquid. Medium balanced taste with berries, nuts and malts. A hint of bitterness, otherwise very soft and smooth. Wide taste spectrum and medium malty and hoppy aftertaste. Medium/light, round body with light carbonation. Overall, high quality and different, still a bit simple product.

Draft @ Varsity Pub (Marshall, MN). Poured bright copper in color, clear with a nice off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of citrus fruit, wheat and some malts. Taste is slightly bitter, some citrus notes; balanced with some malts. Easygoing, enjoyable, Not bad.
