The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it’s an insider’s ride to fresh thrills.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2015 Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served an amber red color with a small fizzy white head. The head fades relatively quickly, leaving a lighter level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is strong of slightly bready and lightly roasted taste with other aromas of a pine and grapefruit smell. Some other lighter aromas of a floral and light fruity smell of apple and pear are there as well rounding out the aroma nicely. Taste – The taste begins with a lightly toasted bread flavor with hints of caramel and a lighter showing of a pine hope. As the flavor moves forward, the pine is joined by a little bit of a grapefruit hop flavor as well as some fruit flavors of pear, apricot and a bit of cherry. The grapefruit hop eventually surpasses the pine, with the two both being joined by a little bit of an herbal and floral hop taste to leave a rather pleasant and smoothly hopped flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. For the style and flavor profile, the moderateness is rather nice as it creates an easy drinking but hop supported medium for all the flavors to be thoroughly enjoyed. Overall – A rather nice red IPA. Very easy drinking and tasty brew that is certainly one to try when you get the opportunity.

A compellingly drinkable red IPA. Pours red tinted orange. Nose is typical APA, but taste and palate are almost perfect for the style--a big rush of grapefruit and other citrus, a touch of resin, balanced with some malty sweetness. Pretty darn hoppy but really refreshing. Deschutes house style definitely perceptible--it reminds me of their fresh squeezed IPA, toned down.

From a bottle. Pours a ruby red, copper color with a small white head and decent lacing. Aroma of caramel and floral hops. Taste is moderately sweet and floral with a hoppy bitterness. A surprising grocery store find. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber color with a one finger light tan head. Aroma is pilsner-like malt and citrus. Flavor is strong citrus and rind with a mild malt sweetness. Palate is just a tad to watery for me, with high carbonation. Quite a strong and long-lasting bitter aftertaste. A good beer, but not quite good enough for me to want to try it again, though I have a six pack to finish.

Nothing too special as far as appearance & aoma, but for flavor palate and drinkability this hits it out of the park. Aroma is fresh malty beer with a hint of hop. Appearance is a smallish light tan to cream-colored thck head, some lace and a clear copper orange amber color. flavor is lake aroma hint of sweetness good balance between bitter sweet and tart actually sweetness comes on more into the aftertaste. Excellent body. Very satisfying quaff. I want more! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at Brew, Thonglor, Bangkok. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head and clingy lace. The aroma is big zesty citrus hop. The flavour is light bitter with a huge zesty citrus fruit, sherbet. light hop bitter palate. Light bodied with average carbonation.

Rating the Winter 2013 edition. I have had Zombie Dust and this tastes a lot like Zombie Dust, only so much better. Appearance: A ruby grapefruit red. Nice thick head that retains throughout the entire enjoyment of the beer (leaving nice lacing down the glass). Smell: Pine, grapefruit, mango. Very tropical and sweet. Taste: Wow! Very malty and sweet, but very hoppy. Think floral then pine. Amazing balance to this beer. Overall 9.5/10 I have had most of the top rated pale ales and this is by far the best, yes, even better than Zombie.
