The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it’s an insider’s ride to fresh thrills.

A dark amber with a thumbs width white head that started to dwindle just as soon as I put the glass down. Great lacing. A delicious aroma; sweet citric heaven. One of the best grapefruit aromas I have come across from any beer, like I just cut open a fresh grapefruit and put it right up to my nose. Sharp, pointy, crisp. Flavor is just as good with the marriage between malt and hops. A floral and fruity fused malt base alongside a wonderful hit of grapefruit. There is a very balanced layer of bitterness throughout. A very crisp, silky mouthfeel aided by the carbonation. Wow, this is a great beer. Extremely balanced, extremely drinkable, extremely good. This quickly made it into the mix of favorite beers.

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice golden copper color. Some off-white head, good lacing. Aroma is surprisingly malty, but there are citrus hop notes as well. Flavor is complex, with a strong caramel backbone and great pine and citrus notes throughout. Overall this is a great pale ale, and I hope it’s not just a seasonal production, as the box said.

A bronzed-amber brew with a decent, albeit, thinnish head. This is a great bitter hop brew to complement those rainy Pacific Northwest nights. Sharp, piny and resinous Chinook hoppy nose that is like a sharp hop rain amidst a spicy fog. The body too is resinous and bitter throughout. Pungent and enjoyable. With a balanced finish that is neither dry nor sweet.

only available briefly, but worth the wait every year. hoppy without hitting you over the head, and maltier than most pales.

Bottle. Pours a copper color with an off white head. Aroma is a nice balance between hops and malt, I get floral, grapefruit and citrus hops and caramel and sweet malt. Flavor follows the nose with lots of floral notes, elderflower like, citrus, grapefruit and some sweeter citrus flavors, along with a solid caramel and sweet malt backbone. The body is medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a pretty tasty and well balanced APA!

Tap at Beer Revolution thanks to Travlr. Clear reddish amber pour with a thick white head. Huge sticky sheets of lace. Fresh starfruit and kumquat nose. Wow. Unfortunately moves to big diacetyl. Taste is thicker, mild diacetyl, sweet sugars, sweetened canned peach. Thicker palate. Not bad. Would be spot on without the flaws. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Red-orange in color. Hops were present in aroma, but lacked character. Nice clean taste, but nothing special. Mouth feel left something to be desired and was almost a little like anchovies. Overall was a decent beer but not something high on my list of choices.

Pours a nice clear amber. Medium off white head that lingers for a little bit. Aromas of hops and sweet malt. Pine, citrus and peaches. Flavors of peaches/apricots blend with pine, and bitter hops. Sweet malt, and sugar. Mouthfeel is semi oily and bitter. Overall a really delicious beer.

12 oz bottle, poured into an ale glass. It has a rich copper color. Not much head, but what there is clings well to the side of the glass. Excellent aroma. Really a great treatment of the hops - floral and orange-lemon. Some piney notes. A hint of sweet malt and honey. Great balance of the bitterness of hops and the sweetness of the malt and tartness of the citrus character. Less over-powering than the typical IPA or double IPA offering. Well-carbonated. A refreshing, drinkable beer. Deschutes has managed to thread the needle by retaining the hoppy soul of a NW IPA, but in a genuinely refreshing, tasty package. Nice beer to enjoy after hitting the slopes.
