Lovely cascadey aroma of citrus and pine greets you nicely. Clear reddish gold in color with a quickly disappearing head. Some lacing. Light in body. Lots of citrus and grass in flavor is a bit contrasting with the crystal malt. Itís sort of stuck between an IPA and red, and itís a tough place to be stuck. Itís a nice quaffer from a great brewery, but I like the other offerings a bit more.

From bottle. Dark amber color. Aroma is biscuit and caramel malts with a sweet citrus hop note. Taste is caramel, light rye, grapefruit, and slightly sweet tropical citrus. The bitter is paired fairly well with the biscuit and sweet malts. Citrus is quite prevalent in the finish.

B0ttle fr0m the Jewell d0wn the bl0ck: Deep amber b0died with a creamy head, this had a sweet citrus ar0ma, very ripe 0ranges mainly, with a caramel t0pped slice 0f bread. Very s0ft m0uthfeel. The flav0r was mainly sweet citrus fruit 0ver a sl0wly intensifying bitterness that st0pped bef0re I wanted it t0. Still, a very decent APA, well w0rth repeating.

The lack of citrus punch in this big malty (might as well be a hoppy amber...) ale, along with the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer of bitter bitter bitter aspirin really makes this beer shine. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges in order to create a dog food flavored, copper-colored brew claiming to be a pale ale. Like its namesake ski lift, itís an insiderís ride to bitter malt water. Would not recommend to someone that enjoys beer.

@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark amber with 1/2" ivory head, curtains of lace. Taste is sweet caramel malt that grows in the palate, adding biscuit and bitter toffee that continues smoothly through a lingering finish. Satisfying, easy to drink, well-balanced, a real winner.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a 355ml bottle. One-finger sized, beige head leaving fragile lacing behind. Copper coloured body, slightly cloudy. Aroma is very fresh with apricot, mango, and peach. Balanced taste character of semi-dry tropical fruits and caramel malts followed by a nice bittersweet ending. Soft carbonated. Smooth in the mouth. Fine bodied. Pleasing (kindly shared by djoeye, TromsÝ 27.02.2014).
