The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it’s an insider’s ride to fresh thrills.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2013 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours bright golden amber with medium lacey head. Aroma is thin hops and semi-sweet malt. Taste is crisp bitterness with slight citrus notes. Clean lighter malt body. Finishes bitter though lacking the heavy hop nose of Inversion. I like the idea of a Northwest pale ale, this is clearly closer to that than an IPA. Fits nicely between Inversion and Mirror Pond.

On tap at Tony Roma’s, Mall of America. Fruity and oniony hops aroma with stone fruit and faint strawberry. Almost clear copper under a thin, white cover and lace. Flavour is salty hops with onions, bitter resin, and apricot in front of sweet base malt. Very high bitterness lingers through the finish and is slightly astringent. Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth.

12-ounce bottles poured into a large dimpled mug. Tasty, not too bitter, the best pale ale that I have had (although the color was a bit dark for the type).

Really hard to rate, as ths was on Nitro. If I had known that I probably wouldn’t have ordered it as it was just dominated by the nitro and I got very little aroma or flavor out of it. Certainly not hoppy. May have to give this a try in the bottle.

12 ounce bottle. Amber orange pour. Large creamy beige head with noticeable lacing. Rich malty aroma has earthy caramel notes. Flavor has notes of caramel malt and citrus hops. A wonderful balance of malt and hops. Sweet and spicy. Peppery hops finish this nicely.

Clear tea-coloured pour with small white smooth head and legs. Smells of maple syrup malt, hop that's grassy and lightly floral (dank flower petals), resin. Taste is moderate bitterness, crisp lightly spicy red malt. Body is slick and bitter. Quite nice - a good deal hoppier than most pale ales, and the maltiness adds a lightly sweet crispness.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Clear dark orange-amber pour with foamy head. Aroma is sweet red malt with some spicy notes, subtle but definitely present pine hops. Nice. Sort of like a malty Sierra Nevada pale ale smell, and smoother. Taste is similar, pine bitterness, bready malt, some lingering tingly bitterness. Really smooth palate. Not bad at all but wouldn't get again - just not my favorite.

One of the best reds yet. Not to heavy or sweet. Light malt taste with a smooth finish.
