3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hoppy aroma, as expected with hints of tropical fruit and raisins. The appearance is rather amber like and not that pale, maybe red chair and pale ale is some kind of hybrid thing? The taste is a bit hoppy and some bitterness but the malt profile is rather present together with a (relatively) large portion of sweetness which I don’t want in a pale ale.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange-hued amber body with a medium creamy eggshell-hued white head. Nose is light nougat-like peachy tones, red fruits, grassy pine and hints of caramel. Taste is sweet red fruits, raisins, caramel and hints of pine, peaches and mild strawberries. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Exquisite balance, lovely fruitiness - this is great session ale and a very nice surprise from Deschutes.

Citrus and caramel in the aroma, pours a copper/orange with a orange tinted head and great lacing. Great malty, bready, caramel, toffee, fruit cake character balanced by hop flavor and bitterness.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Big citrus backed up by a big biscuity, grainy, and caramelly malt bill. Quite a bit of residual sweetness for an APA makes this one unique, however it can get cloying after a couple. Always nice to pick up a sixer or two of this one every year.

Been slamming this for years, surprised, like with Mirror Pond, I hadn’t taken the time to voice my opinion.

Lovely amber with a couple fingers of tannish foam leaving webbed lace. Smells of pine, sweet grapefruit and more pine. A sincerely PNW aroma here. Flavor has a good bite up front with cameos from the hops in the substance of weed and, imagine, pine. The malts are nice and solid sans sweetness. Medium bodied with moderately hi carb and a semi dry finish. A really nice beer and particularly a fun treat to look forward to annually - we’d be spoiled to have this beer all the time.
