Here’s a twist on a wheat ale. How about a bunch of caramel malts and some cascade hops? We thought it sounded good too. We used our house ale yeast at a low fermentation temperature to keep the ester production low, unlike a traditional hef. A light touch of cascade aroma finishes this session-able wheat ale real nicely. Tip one back!

Sampler at the PDX Brewery & Public House. Light bready aroma with a touch of Cascade hops. Reddish-brown color, slightly cloudy. Initial flavor: same yeast as Mirror Pond / light coffee cake mid palate with some caramel and cinnamon. Medium body. Very mild, drinkable, but not really impressive. Does not taste at all like a wheat.
