Nephilium (1415) - Ohio, USA - DEC 17, 2014
Slight grainy aroma, pours a clear amber with a quickly fading head. Mild grainy flavor, just a touch of floral hop notes in the finish. A non-offensive, easy drinking blond ale.

ALLOVATE (2475) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 27, 2014
Rating from earlier this year.
Into a chalice, chilled. Pastel orange, short of bright with fine and intermittent carbonation. Snow white crown holds high for the length and daubs a messy lace. Dominant raw hop aroma; piney, resinous, slight eucalypt, gum, sap, honeydew, forest floor, lime zest - this is heaving with the smell of the brewhouse. Wow, hops; made a hop soup with Noble and U.S hops years ago and that is the taste. Wha?! Raw, prominant, dominant, rough and all things hops are before the boil. Huge pelletised hops flavour. The nose is the flavour. Eucalypt, pine, gum, honeydew, lime zest and those hops. Low to no malt; weird, salted popped corn flavour. Good body with good hold and soft carbonation. Mildly bitter but no peak with lengthy hoppy finish. Weird!! (12fl.Oz, BB 11/02/14, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

Pours a light amber with a small white head. Little lacing. Nose is floral hops. Light in body. Flavor is light fruit and floral hops. Bland in character without much going for it. I like low ABV beers but the good ones have more flavor. \

Leaves a sense of sweet-to-bitter on the back sides of the tongue and tends to linger there. The aroma is sweeter than the taste, and the transparency is a good indicator of the lightness as well as taste of this beer. Deschutes has done better, but this is a somewhat okay lighter beer.

Deschutes River Ale is one of those beers that strikes a strange balance between satisfying and underwhelming. Thereís nothing wrong with it, yet it somehow seems lacking in some way I canít quite identify. Maybe itís the aroma, which is sweet but faint. Or maybe itís the not-quite-great appearance with the rocky, somewhat short-lasting head. Taste was alright. I liked the medley of bread, light spice, and mildly bitter orange peel. I guess I just wanted a little more of everything. Still, itís a solid choice for a late afternoon session beer.

Bottle. A- Grapefruit, orange peel, bitter, malts, caramel. A- Amber gold color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Bitter, malty, caramel, grapefruit, orange, musty, earthy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Was not expecting this for a Blond Ale. A lot of flavor for such a low abv and the style. Not really what I like but this could potentially be an amazing beer for the right person.
