COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
How farmhouse can you get? This beer started out just like any old Black Butter Porter (delicious, creamy etc) then we filled one oak barrel with it and some friends: fresh cherries from the Willamette Valley and assortment of acid-producing micro-organisms. The reason the beer looks cloudy is the result of minimal processing after removal from the barrel.

On tap at Portland location in December. Pours an odd grey brown with a tan head. Aromas of cherry, malts and vinegar. Initial tart taste fades into caramel. At first does not taste much like Black Butte, but the finish is the BB chocolate malt taste.

Part of the 9hr epic solo drunkfest in Portland in Nov, 2010. Pint. Sowwer! Murky brown beer. Cherries and chocolate covered cherries, brett, oud bruin aroma. Sour taste is crinkling my face, light funk, great sour bite, molasses, light cheese. Where is the porter part? Hints of malts and thickness. That’s all I wrote?

Tap at Deschutes Portland for the Dissident release. This beer is dark brown with red highlights and a thick head. Tastes like chocolate, caramel, molasses, cherry and light funk and smells much the same. I hope they continue to tweak with the Black Butte recipe in years to come, as every variation I’ve had has been delicious.
