COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This light colored strong Belgian ale was brewed specifically for Portland’s Cheers to Belgian Beers Festival. A traditional Belgian Quad that we additionally aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels, which adds a further complexity not ordinarily associated with the style. Truly, a connoisseur’s beer.

One of the best beers I've ever had. Strong but sweet Belgian quad, great for keeping one warm in the winter months. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap @ AnniBrew 2 Barrel Aged Beer Festival... Poured a burnt reddish/orange with a thick, beige head, nice lacing. Esters and alcohol on the nose. Foamy palate. Vanilla, caramel, and nutty malt flavors. A strong bread quality and a bourbon accented finish.

Besides the Abyss, best beer I had at Deschutes this trip. Pours a golden orange with minimal cream head. Aromas of brown sugar, chocolate, and spice. Taste is chocolately, candy sugar, bourbon and slightly sour (!) with a definite warming sensation. Yummy.

A waming spicy aroma with faint yeast. More spice in the body, but a dominant caramel malt and a smooth mouth feel.

Tap at the Portland venue. SNifter. Ruddy copper pour with a clingy white head. Aromas of roast malt and fresh stone fruit. A bit of berry. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is fruit, caramel and an underlayer of kandi which tends to come out in the finish. Oak is low key. Interesting, but not a Westy 12.

Portland trip. Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a clear copper color with a small white head. The aroma was strongly sweet and sugary with light ripe fruits. The flavor was somewhat mild sugar, caramel and faint fruits with a light yeasty undertone. Medium length finish and moderately full body. Good but a bit disappointing for a quad.

On tap at the Portland Deschutes pub. Pours a transparent orange, very little head. Smells a bit like a sour without the tart - dusty mandarin and grapefruit - but this is malt-heavy, very sweet. Lots of oak, especially in the flavor. It’s a bit hot, but really tasty - I was a fan.

On tap at the Deschutes Portland location. Colour... amber-brown with a thin ecru head. Nose... candied stone fruits. Palate... baking sugar, orange pekoe tea, candied citrus, lightly cloying and a moderately long finish.

Draught @ the Portland Brew Pub poured into Snifter glass. Pours a murky burgundy with a bubbly off-white head that quickly dissolves into a fine film in the glass and leaves a light ring. Aroma is mostly yeast with some booze and no present hops to speak of. The flavor has brown sugar, dried fruit (figs and apricots) and some caramel malts. Its a light- to medium-bodied beer that is effervescent. It a nice beer but becomes more boozy as it warms up.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours cloudy orange with small white head and sticky legs. The aroma is clove, honeydew melon, light citrus, and some strong sugary notes. The flavor is clove and orange zest of a thick bready sweetness. Some banana and pumperknickel notes are in there too. It dries a touch in the finish, but is still too sweet.
