COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a Super-Duper Jubelale! It is made with the same recipe as our beloved Jubel, but with an increased amount of everything to create even a stronger beer for the coldest part of the year. This year, we aged most of it on bourbon oak casks, and the rest we dry-hopped with lots of hops and spices. Served in a 10 oz. snifter. IBU’s 100

This is the catch-all entry for oak-aged Super Jubel. Jubel 2010 is aged in only pinot noir barrels.

Draft at Aces and Ales. Deep, very dark red with ample body. At first whiff I’d suspect this could peel paint. It drinks with a super-indeed rich maltiness and essence of cooked sugar. Gets better as it warms. Nice winter warmer. (#4475, 2/13/2012).

Caramel and spice from this deep red ale. Heavy body rounds the sweet caramel with flavors of bread and dates. Finish is sweet and fruity.

Tap @ Holiday Ale Festival... Poured dark brown with a light tan head. Leafy, floral hops with sugary malts. Brown sugar, and a full body (especially compared to regular Jubelale). Sort of a chemical component towards the end. A sticky sweetness too.

Sample on Day 3 of the Aces & Ales Strong Beer Festival on 08/14/2011. The beer is a clear dark amber-brown color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Top ring of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee, bourbon and malt. Rich body with flavors of caramel malt, oak, sweet spices and hops. The finish is sweetly spiced with a lasting toffee aftertaste. Enjoyable all around.

On tap at Portland location. Pours red-brown with a flat, quickly fading tan head. Sugary aroma, plums, alcohol. Taste is layered and complex. Alcohol, raisins, oak, caramel, and vanilla are all in there. Very smooth palate.

On tap at the Hopyard. Pours a dark auburn with creamy beige head. Thick aroma of bourbon followed by raisins, toffee, and marshmallow sweetness. The flavor is a bit disappointing given the intense aroma: slightly distant dark fruit, chocolate malt, toffee, and bourbon. There’s a bit of a watered-down quality to the flavor, even though the beer itself is definitely not watery. Ethanol warmth at the end with a moderately velvety body. Something was missing in the flavor; this has a lot of potential.

2008 brewing on tap @ Parkway Tavern. Dark brown pour. Dark, earthy flavors with ripe fruit, grappa, dates and walnuts in the mix. Balanced, tasty, medium-heavy body to start, but finishing lighter and more bitter. High ABV is well-hidden.

On tap at Stone Oaquinox 2010. Needs to be unretired. Dark color. Sweet malty barrel buttery goodness. Excellent.

On tap at Stone Oakquinox 2010. Pours a dark amber, with creamy off-white head. Dark caramel malts, molasses, dried fruit, plum, pear, honey, anise, clove, and note of vanilla. Nice! Another well done Deschutes brew.

DeadGirl (473) - La Jolla, California, USA - APR 19, 2010
On draft at Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens for Oakquinox (Escondido, CA): Pours a clear amber, beige head, fair lacing. Star anise and heavy caramel malts, loads of honey, pine hops, brown sugar, vanilla, cardamon bready, cookie dough, cinnamon, and bananas. Thick, sweet caramel malts dominate the flavor with a snap of bitter bite in the finish. Alcohol heat throughout. Drinkability: This one could scare off the newbs. Pairing: Chicken chop with broccolini and shallot confit. Rebuy: No. #410 on 19042010, DG.
