Muchas gracias to Indiana_Red for contributing a growler to the weekly poker night tasting. Lightly hazy bronze color, some mahogany hues, not much in the head or lacing department but long distrance growler trips are allowed to be so. The nose is rich with fruit, bright hops and light alcohol. The flavor is creamy, nicely bitter with rich malts and definite bend-inspired hops. The finish is a bit sweet, chalky and mild but refreshing at the same time.

On tap at the brewpub. A hazy light amber with a very small white head. Hops up front in the aroma and the higher ABV is apparent as well. Tasted mainly of the rather sharp hops, and alcohol. Malts were light and a bit sweet and balanced nicely. Stong and in your face.

(Draft: Deschutes Brewery in Bend, OR) The "muy fuerte" version of their Mirror Pond Pale, this smells sweet and quite caramely with a mild touch of hops in the background. The flavor is sweet and fruity, but less caramely than I expected. Alcohol is pretty evident, as is the fairly bitter and citrusy hops, which starts off strong and finally dominates the finish. Full bodied, with a dense, coating palate and a long-lasting bitter aftertaste. Dark golden in color, the body is topped by a short-lived, off-white head that leaves behind patches of doily-like lace. With the alcohol and bitter bite, it’s not as easy to drink, but still a nice alternative to their more subtle beers.

On Tap at Deschutes Brewery & Public House: This is a pretty intense beer (note alcohol content). It pours a murky, gold color and has lots of carbonoation. The alcohol content dominates. It has a sweet, buttery aftertaste. Too sweet for my palate.
