4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 vintage on tap @ Chucks 85th. Pours thick inky brown with thin creamy head that fades quickly. Aroma is charred malts with hints of coffee and licorice. Taste is big rich blackened malts, chased by a mellow hoppy bitterness. Notes of bourbon, coffee, oak, raisin, and dark chocolate are present. Doesnít have the heavy barrel-aged, bourbon taste that some of the bigger imperial stouts do, but incredibly well balanced. This is one of the best. The annual race to acquire it before bottles sell out confirms it.

Rated December 2013. -
2010 vintage - 3 years old
Black. Small brown ring of head. Aroma and flavor are complex and packed with character and seamlessly balanced. Tastefully sweet. Roasty. Kiss of sweet bourbon. Lots of chocolate. Coffee, licorice, molasses, touch of dark fruit. Very pleasant alcohol warmth. Clean toasty, just so smooth. Full body. A little sticky. Awesome. Everything comes together so well. A fantastically aged beer.

2011 vintage. This is a different recipe as far as the barrel aging and makes for a noticeably different beer.
Compared to above. Sweeter. Some red wine. Dark cherry. Red fruit. Plus all the other malty goodness. Lots of chocolate. Caramel, molasses, etc.as stated above. Slick, creamy, and velvety smooth. Multilayered. Beautiful development. Truly world class.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
The fragrance is rather subdued - roasted malts and vanilla. Pours as black as the bottom of an deep abyss with a rapidly disapearing khaki head and moderate lacing. The taste is slightly sweet yet roasty. Licorice, wood, malts, with hints of fruit. Full body and moderate carbonation. Velvety smooth mouthfeel. Overall, this is beer lives up to all the hype. Rich and rewarding.

Canít wait even though itís fresh off the line. Welcome to Philly! Bomber from Wegmans. Pours thick, inky black with a medium sized brown head with excellent retention, tons of lacing on the glass, a gorgeous stout. The aroma has a dense milk chocolate burst followed by cacao, vanilla, some of a coffee, and a little bit roasty. The taste has a bit roasted malt flavor that is followed by rich chocolate, some of the bourbon barrel comes through in the middle of the drinking experience with a vanilla and toasted oak.. maybe a faint coconut. The finish has just an unreal complex chocolate, vanilla, sweet, yet dry experience. #1 on my list.

Cerveza compleja e interesante.
Aromas a malta tostada, cafť y chocolate.

That smell is incredible coffee, chocolate, sweet, almost like a hint of mint, the look and pour is 10-40 motor oil, not a watery stout itís milky in feel, you taste a note of sweet, coffee, chocolate, then a bitter kick after the swallow that lingers on the palate....the ABV is almost un-noticeable. One of the best beers Iíve had all year!
