Pours a surprising honey colored orange. Figured it would be darker. Aroma is right on par with a quad. Malt comes through in the aroma followed by fruit flavors (picking up apple, maybe that is the pomegranate , also banana). Oak is in the aroma too. Flavor is heavy candy like a triple, followed by oak/wood flavors with a moderate spicy finish. The thing about this beer, for a 11% ABV is there is not alcohol aroma or flavor kicking through like in many other types of quads. This is different than any other one I have had. Definitely on the sweeter side and no raisin and vanilla flavors like in so many Iíve had. This makes it unique and memorable. I like this beer, but itís very heavy. Would be great served with any type of dessert.

I have been on this beer for months waiting for it to come out! I had no reason to drink tonight other then to try a beer from one of my 3 favorite breweries. It pours a clear amber color??? I like my quads dark, never had one i could read through. The smells: Belgian yeast is huge, i get the Pomegrante, maybe some red wine. The smell is off the charts! When i bring this beer to my lips i get a revalation of great tastes: Both the oak wine and the rye whiskey both shine through nice, the fruits are there too. This isnít your papas quad but it is a damn good beer!

Superb! I was taken aback by such a lightly hued quad. The nose is pomegranate and dried cherry. No heat, good fruit and balancing bitterness. Sooooo good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium-orange in color with a light head, The Stoic has a predominant aroma of citrus, light spices and yeast and is very perfumy. The flavor is light, alot easier on you than the aroma. Itís fruity and clean with a nice finish that follows with a light dryness. Thin, fruity and really quite lovely.

Bomber thanks to spinrsx, shared with Ottawa bartowel tasting group. Golden ruby with an off white head. Vinous, belgian yeast, whiskey, oak, grain, raisin, booze is slightly hidden. Moderate body and carbonation, smooth, somewhat sweet but becomes more bitter and dry with a nice hop ending,

Thanks to spinrsx for this. Pours a deep amber with small carbonation and a white ring. Aroma is orange, slight whiskey, oak and fruit. Taste is a little boozy but nicely complex. Whiskey, oak, fruit, loads of malt and vinous. Very nice sipper.

A golden amber with a thin white head. In aroma, a sweet perfumey malt with light coriander, herbal spices, very nice. In mouth, a sweet candy sugar, with light orange peels, maple notes, tropical fruits, nice. Tasted with Pushkinnow, Spinrsx, Brews Phillips, CFrancis and Ian, Jan. 14 2011, Bartowel Ottawa gathering.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer is both beautiful and delicious. It has a reddish amber. Oppression and appears clean and crisp. The head is white and small. The aroma is enticing and has notes of Belgian yeast and some pomegranete sweetness. The flavor brings memories of old library books and woodworking and presents tastes of Belgian yeast vanilla and dark fruit peel. The beer is strong and this is apparent in the mouthfeel, lively and warming from the high abv, however it is not offensive. Go enjoy one. On draught its superb.

22oz. wax dipped bottle served in a tulip. Poured a slightly hazy gold with a finger of off white head. Belgian yeast spice in the aroma along with some fruit (the pomegranate) and sugar. Medium bodied with plenty of carbonation. More spice in the flavor, some alcohol heat in the finish. Not getting much barrel. Plenty of malt, but not overly sweet. Big beer, seemed like there was more going on in the aroma than the flavor.
