[4712-20120818] Bottle. Mild melon fruit malt aroma. Clear, orange amber body with a quick foamy white head. Boozy, fruity malt flavour has a lingering sweet boozy malt aftertaste. Medium body. Interesting. (7/3/7/3/13) 3.3

Overheard: "It’s enjoyable but it’s not very quady."

Shared at the local homebrew Christmas party. Lighter pour with tons of floaters. Aroma is banana, alcohol, and tons of yeast. Taste is minty, caramel, banana, and pucker.

On tap at Noble Hops in Oro Valley, served in a pilsner glass. Pours clear amber with small off white head that fades to thin remnant, small lace. The nose has lots of fruit, pomegranate, and grass, along with grapes, flowers, a hint of citrus and earth. The flavour is moderately sweet, with continuation of the aroma. It is nice and fruity, with pomegranate notes along with grassy hops for balance. The finish is long and fruity with pomegranate. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth syrupy texture and soft carb. Overall, a very nice fruity quad but lighter than is typical. Almost more like a tripel, but very nice overall. 2012-03-17

A good beer, but not your father’s quad. Rather mid yellow with big lasting head, lace. Sweet, and some tartness from the pomegranate. Complex, sweet dominates but it is not cloying. Smooth mouthfeel and good drinkability. Thanks Presario.

Sammy Grey Cup 2012 tasting. Well carbonated amber. Like a malt-pomegranate wine. Not at all like a Quad. Hints of fruit, good malt, alcohol. Great for sharing. R

Shared at November tasting. Poured cloudy light gold with slight white head. Malty, fruity nose, bit of a bubblegum taste, kinda boozy. Deserves a second chance.

Draft sample. Hazy gold in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of strange "fuzzy" citrus fruit, peach, wood, and booze. Flavors are of perfume, heavy sweet orchard fruit, heavy malt, and hard alcohol. Weighty on the palate and, quite frankly, hard to drink. A rare mis-step for a brewery I’m typically a fan of.

Gorgeous quad from Deschutes. Poured from bottle, hazy leaning clear amber orange with a frothy lasting head. Caramel, citrus, dates on the nose and palate, lightly sweet and boozy with a lasting finish.

Best by 08/04/12. Tasted 3 months past. Pours thick, dark orange with a short head. Big nose of candy, toffee, dried stone fruits, yeast, nuts, and oak. Sweet flavor with many of the elements of the nose showing up. Juicy with a spicy yeast edge. Full body, creamy thick texture, light carbonation, and a long boozy, sticky-sweet finish. Huge flavor and complexity, but a Belgian-style beers this big can be a bit cloying. Still worth the money and drinking fine past code.

pours a semi-clear orangish with a very small white head, and a little lacing. smell is strong, bubble gum, malt, a touch of fruit, some toffee, pear, and apricot. taste is of sweet fruit, yeast, a touch of banana, and malt in the back. ends dry and somewhat bitter.
