4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Yeast takes center stage again, pushing past all the other goings-on to provide light banana and spicy earth notes. Pomegranate is much more noticeable and serves the beer well with itís underlying wine characteristics. Sweet white grape and warm, boozy alcohol immediately follow and segue into the caramel-malty finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ Deanís Birthday tasting, courtesy of kermis. Pours a light brownish beer with a small, off white head on top. Aroma is fruity, funky and quite disappointing for such a big beer. Flavour is too sweet, boozy and has a very watery mouthfeel. Very disappointing. Still quite a good beer, but does not match up to any other quads Iíve tasted. Too bad..

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Medium copper with a thin, white, lacy, lasting head. Smells of yeast, fruit, hay, juice, mango. Medium frothy oily body. Tastes of mango with an alcohol finish. Fruity, yeast. Ok much alcohol! Hardish to drink.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Deanís Birthday Tasting, August 2013. Courtesy of Kermis. Poured a hazy amber with a thin white broken head. The flavour is weak bitter sweet with an acidic apple palate. Not much else really and a little disappointed.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared at Deanís birthday tasting. Pours hazy amber with a small off white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast upfront, light fruits, caramel. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. This really doesnít capture me, seems like a below par take on a traditional Belgian style. Itís not that itís bad, itís just that there seems no point to someone living in the Netherlands.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draught at Deschutes Brewery in Portland, served in snifter. Deep dark golden color. Rich aroma of plum, toffee, yeast, and berry. Taste is typical of abbey ales, with a deep sweetness of pitted fruit and yeast tartness. Hides alcohol content well, has a great lingering fruit and aged quality.
