Superb! I was taken aback by such a lightly hued quad. The nose is pomegranate and dried cherry. No heat, good fruit and balancing bitterness. Sooooo good.

22 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer was a ha y copper color with a white head of foam. The aroma is over the top with boozy character. Strong whiskey notes. Moderate fruit, and lots of wet woody notes. Big body and moderate carbonation.

Red brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, spices, wood, vanilla, and alcohol. Taste of dried fruits, caramel malts, sherry, spices, tobacco, wood, and a bit of alcohol in the finish.

Light brown with a pale head. Aroma is pear, caramel, golden raisins. Medium-full bodied, fruity on the palate with a light booziness to finish. Taste is golden raisins, dried pears, honey.

Draught at Darbyís Pub, Vancouver
Cloudy orange color with small compact head. The aroma is a bit fruity and sour, thatís the barrel. Good body, quite sweet; it doesnít have much malt depth, it has loads of fruity esters given by that American yeast, a bit of character given by the barrels, the wine barrel being the better contributor, with mild sourness, vinous touch, a bit woody and astringent in the final. The alcohol us well managed.
Nice beer, I wouldnít buy a bottle of it though.

Pours into a copper, cloudy liquid. It smells heavily of a variety of fruit. Taste is more of the same. The fruit flavor is kind of muddled together but maybe banana is most pronounced. There is also a hint of wine acidity, but otherwise the barrels donít really come through. Slight carbonation and guess down smoothly. All in all itís a decent beer but not necessarily worth the price tag.

UXO (1252) - CANADA - MAR 13, 2016
Appearance: clear slightly orange-tinged pale amber with a short thin light beige head diminishing rapidly to a thin cap, patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: complex, pomegranate, raspberry, caramel, oak, vinous, light whiskey, dark fruit. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, modoerate-low bitter, light tart. (8/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, malty sweet and warming finish. (3/5) Pretty well-behaved for a double digit boozy beast, but the flavours are complex, perhaps to the point of being a little overwhelming - the blend of different barrel ageings is a bit challenging, and Iím not completely convinced that vinous oak and whiskey work all that well together. Decent Belg-ish style, but not a home run. (15/20)

libertine (364) - rochester hills, Michigan, USA - FEB 10, 2016
pours orange amber a moderate khaki head. Aroma of pomegranate, cherries, spice and wood. Flavor is a little sweet. Cherries, pomegrate, wood, spice, dry red wine and toffee. Alcohol warming in the finish. Medium/full bodied with a sticky texture. Moderate carbonation. A nice quad and the barrel ageing gives it a unique complexity. The wine barrels win out of the rye barrel here. You donít get much of the barrel ageing in the aroma but the wine is present in the taste. Little pricey for the value here but definitely a very good quad.

reebtogi (5347) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 1, 2016
650ml bottle pours a golden color with a finger of white head that retains well and leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is slightly woody with some grape notes and sugars. Taste is a big malty and fruity sweetness with a mild spicy hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied. Alcohol is well hidden. A very simple quad that is quite sweet and not as complex as it should be. A little disappointing.

olio (8723) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 18, 2016
65 cl bottle (10.9% abv). BBE 08.05.2016.
Pours clear orange-golden color with a small head. Sweet ripe fruits on the aroma, must admit, the pomegranate is present, very faint hops, wood from the barrels, not quite getting the whiskey. Rye on the flavor, sweet caramel, mild berry notes, wood and subtle whiskey notes. Balance is not that great, feels a bit messy or to be exact, leans more towards the fruits and not the malt body. Sweet and a bit disappointing.
