COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Doppelbock was designed to quell the massive thirst of a mythical and mischievous beast named Virgil who hailed from faraway eastern lands. Legend has it that when soothed by the soft malt character Munich malt provides, Virgil exclaimed, "Deutcshland can't touch this," and went into a life of servitude. Try it for yourself, but beware of the calming effects! IBU's: 32

DuffMan (7028) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 23, 2012
On tap @ the brewpub in Bend. Hazy bronze colour, low white head. Aroma and flavour of sweet pale malts, flavours of apple butter, barley candy, and light marzipan. My least favourite of all the glorious beers we tried here.

On Draft at P town brewpub 2009. Aroma: grainy, earthy German malt; the nose fades quickly. Flavor: sweet dried orange, “cloying,” bitter, candied fruit, and earthy malt. Comment: The overly sweet character didn’t appeal to me on this occasion.

gracefullypunk (667) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 19, 2010
On tap at Portland location a couple months ago. Pours red gold with very little head. Aromas of apple, wheat, cider, cloves and cinnamon. Tastes different though. Faintly of banana, some wheat and cloves. Fall-like.

Lubiere (10438) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 10, 2010
A reddish amber bock with a thin off white head. In aroma, dusty fruity esters, powdery notes, rather musty. In mouth, a smooth nutty malt with roasted notes, plums, powdery, not bad. On tap at Deschutes on NW11th, Sept. 5 2010.

A crisp doppelbock, yes, more sweet than not but well balanced and light on the palate. Aroma of dark caramel, plum, sherry. Deep claret color with minimal head. Flavors of malts, plum and a little salt. clean finish. my first visit to their Portland taproom.

draft. clear tawny brown. sweet cherry-skin accented malt nose with some maple and wood notes; medium+ sweetness, pleasantly chewy and filmy, low hop presence. sticky toffee and honey accents with medium-to-high attenuation give it proper sweetness but not overdone. chewy, creamy, frothy. delicious.

hayduke (3468) - Eureka, California, USA - DEC 30, 2009
On tap at the Deschutes Bond Street Brewpub in Bend, Oregon this poured a clear red to amber with a medium sized off-white head and good lacing rings. The nose is caramel malts with ripe fruit aromas; The body is bull and the mouthfeel is medium and smooth. The flavor is very much in favor of the malts and the finish is slightly bitter. Very nice brew.

X Tap at Deschutes Bond Street Brewpub in Bend, OR--Dark clear amber body with a tiny circular head. Sharp boozy maltilicious nose. big bold taste up front of malts and dark fruity booze. Just shy of being cloying. English Barleywine-esque. Doppel or quadruple? Not bad at all.
