On Draft at P town brewpub 2009. Aroma: grainy, earthy German malt; the nose fades quickly.
Flavor: sweet dried orange, “cloying,” bitter, candied fruit, and earthy malt. Comment: The overly sweet character didn’t appeal to me on this occasion.

On tap at Portland location a couple months ago. Pours red gold with very little head. Aromas of apple, wheat, cider, cloves and cinnamon. Tastes different though. Faintly of banana, some wheat and cloves. Fall-like.

A reddish amber bock with a thin off white head. In aroma, dusty fruity esters, powdery notes, rather musty. In mouth, a smooth nutty malt with roasted notes, plums, powdery, not bad. On tap at Deschutes on NW11th, Sept. 5 2010.

A crisp doppelbock, yes, more sweet than not but well balanced and light on the palate. Aroma of dark caramel, plum, sherry. Deep claret color with minimal head. Flavors of malts, plum and a little salt. clean finish. my first visit to their Portland taproom.

draft. clear tawny brown. sweet cherry-skin accented malt nose with some maple and wood notes; medium+ sweetness, pleasantly chewy and filmy, low hop presence. sticky toffee and honey accents with medium-to-high attenuation give it proper sweetness but not overdone. chewy, creamy, frothy. delicious.

Sweet fruit punch nose. Ripe fruit highlighted by currants and berries. Heavy caramel malt backbone with a sharp grassy note.

On tap at the Deschutes Bond Street Brewpub in Bend, Oregon this poured a clear red to amber with a medium sized off-white head and good lacing rings. The nose is caramel malts with ripe fruit aromas; The body is bull and the mouthfeel is medium and smooth. The flavor is very much in favor of the malts and the finish is slightly bitter. Very nice brew.

X Tap at Deschutes Bond Street Brewpub in Bend, OR--Dark clear amber body with a tiny circular head. Sharp boozy maltilicious nose. big bold taste up front of malts and dark fruity booze. Just shy of being cloying. English Barleywine-esque. Doppel or quadruple? Not bad at all.
