Strong fruity note that must have been from the tamarind rind. Sweet dark fruit character with a burnt molasses body and fig notes. Yeasty ester notes with slight pepper and spices abound.

Draught at the brewpub in Bend. Hazy brown with a light beige head. The aroma has some stinky tamarind (It’s just a stinky fruit to me, so they did a decent job of capturing its character), some toasty malt, and it a little salty and tart. The flavor has a funky tamarind tartness with light toasty and roasted caramel malts. Some fruity and spicy Belgian yeast character shows as well. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. More interesting of an idea and a decent execution of it than an actually good beer on the whole, but that might be because I just have never had the unique character of tamarind in a beer before. Regardless, I would probably have had a pint of this if I had had more time.
