2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Picked this 6íer up just for the sake of variety. Itís, itís...uninspired and predictable: little of this, little of that. One of those styles that really shouldnít be made.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deschutes is a badass brewery that makes some mind-blowingly good beers. In some ways that works against Twilight Ale because my expectations were damn high for it. Sadly, itís just not on par with some of the other brews in terms of boldness and balance. That said, itís definitely drinkable. Aroma is on the light side but itís fairly complex with pine, biscuity malt, grapefruit, and apricot. Taste follows the nose but with the spiciness of Amarillo hops offering another flavor dimension. I really liked the finish which was plenty bitter and crisp. The 5% ABV is another upside to this beer. As the name suggests, this ale is quite fitting for the conclusion of a hot summer day. Twilight isnít a total letdown but itís not a memorable seasonal either. Hey, at least it doesnít have any shitty vampires in it. Sorry, I had to make that joke.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Golden color with a dusty earthy citrus hop aroma, orange and earth. Nice balancing toast flavor from the malt. Dry finish slightly fizzy. Good and refreshing.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from the Binnys South Loop Singles Rack (Chicago, IL). Pours a deep golden orange hue, a faint haze and lively carbonation shows a.. wait for it.. twilight hued glow through the body. Cakey whitish head atop stays fairly large with nice stick around and lacing overall. Aromas are a touch citrusy, gentle lemon with grassy and floral hops. Faint kiss of melon, bready malts and grainy elements. A touch dulled, some soap, mellow yeast and crusty fresh bread. Initial is lighter end of the fold with just a bit of girth. Middling bitterness shows some florals, a touch of citrus. Gentle white grape, some bready malts and melon. More florals, a bit spicy and yeasty into the backend. Some gentle rind and pithy feel into the backend and finish. Touch bitterm lingering bready malts as the hops donít trail out and end a bit abruptly. Ok.

Had to weigh in on this one. Its not as bad as the rating number might suggest. Overall, its a good light ale that doesnt fade in taste like so many. Very drinkable though nothing amazing.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a clear golden brown with a medium white head. Citrus aroma with hints of pine and somewhat nutty. Good balance between light bitter and sweetness. Very light body with a very crisp texture. Itís a very refreshing beer thatís perfect for a hot day. However, itís not special and there are better summer beers out there.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Pours a crisp golden yellow with a minimal head. Immediate flavors of lemon and orange. A tartness lies underneath. Great refresher for a hot summer day.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Twilight Ale is a hazy amber beer with a head of white tiny bubbles. Nose is apricots. There is a nice acrid bite on the front of the taste that has a medium malty middle with a good apricot end. A refreshing option in summer beers that are mostly citrus and wheaty. More than anything else, i appreciate the change of pace from the typical seasonal offerings
