3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smoked, coffee/roasted, caramel aroma and flavor. Smoked malt character is pretty dominant, but smooth and tasty. Smoked flavor seems more "drinkable" than the last time I had this. Drier than a lot of smoked beers.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On draft at the brewery. Pours deep amber/brown, very thin head that disappears. The smoke is the dominating character. There is a subtle bready malt tone throughout this beer. Not bad, I still am struggling with smoked beers.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2008 On tap at the Brewpub. Pours a dark amber/brown with a nice light brown head. The aroma is heavy smoke and jerky, also some burnt malts. The taste is mostly a smooth and fairly sweet brown ale with a heavy smoke aspect; burnt malts, some sweet brown sugar, and a meaty smoked aspect that may or may not taste like a smog/dust filled Winter inversion in the Valley. Awesome! Utah is really doing a great job, keep it up.
