2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pour was a cloudy orange/tan. Nose was full of cloves and other spice with little esters. Quite a strong amount of hoppiness in the mouth with a metallic taste. I wasnít sure what to expect with this beer, and was quite confused by it.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Normal, IL). Pours a murky golden yellow hue, some deeper darkness to it, lighter straw edges with a moderate sized bright white head that dies to a thick ring, laces ok overall. Aromas are flaked wheat, bread dough with lemon rind, lemony hops, touches of banana, and light yeastiness. A cool mellow sweetness beneath, smells like a fairly fresh Hefe. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, still quite light on the palate with a touch of bitterness growing into the fold. Bigger lemon rind, bread dough, some estery fruits but Iím really getting lemon rind, bread dough, and maybe a touch of suntan lotion or detergent? Just a faint off presence. Finish is almost a bit tart, with bread dough and lemons. Really, for being Imperial, it hides itís alcohol well, drying out into the finish with lingering lemons. Actually, for a Neo-style that generally is a train wreck, this isnít all that bad. But itís not really my thing either. Strange beer, but itís still palatable and I can see some people rather enjoying it.
