COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The best of both brewing worlds: A hybrid Belgian-American strong pale ale with golden-copper color, medium body and maltiness, low caramel/toasty malt flavor, floral and citrus-like American-variety hops used to produce high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma but some phenolic spiciness and high fruity esters from Belgian ale yeast.

Kind of a hopped up belgian ale with a bit of spice and a little funkiness to it. Very bitter and quite dry. Very well done.

Winter Beer Fest, Philadelphia: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is belgian yeast, light fruitiness, and mild Belgian hops. Taste is mildly bitter. Slightly sweet. Pretty dry around the finish. Pretty good.

A very nice Belgian style double IPA is more American than anything else. A few tweaks could improve it greatly. Even so the half pint was not very tough to finish. Your typical regional draft, this is the sort of thing that keeps locals coming back instead of drinking elsewhere.

Aroma / Appearance - A warm bronze base sits idly with a clean vanilla head mated to it. Traces of carbonation pop from time to time. The scent of a muddy garden just before sunrise wafts lazily into the air. A balanced bitterness permeates to the core of the aroma and binds everything together.

Flavor / Palate - Citrus, lemongrass, and spiciness have a slight delayed impact. The bitterness is more American style IPA than Belgian yeast. A smooth transition helps the flavors swell before the intensity crests after a few sips. More like an IPA brewed with a pinch of white pepper, the result is still easy to drink.

On tap @ Destihl. Clear orange beer with a white head. Really nice fruity hop character to the nose. Big time grapefruit, orange, and apricot. Light white pepper and pine. Moderate maltiness. Good bitterness to the flavor. Plenty of pine and grapefruit. Some sweet orange, peach, and apricots. Decently spicy with white pepper and coriander. Some sweet bready malt. Nice beer.

Sampled from the tap at the Normal brewpub. Pours a clear amber with a gold hue and an off white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some light fruits and citrus with some underlying grapefruit and earthy grains. Flavor has earthy citrus and grass with a touch of a bread backbone.

On tap @ the brewpub in Champaign. Clear, bright brassy body. Candied ginger, light yeast, sweet biscuit malts, medium bitterness. A bit unusual, but enjoyable.

Sampled at the Normal brewpub. It poured a clear orange color with a white head. The aroma was of melon, yeast and citrus. The taste was of strong ale notes with citrus, hops, plus tropical fruits. Very nice.

hayduke (3470) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 26, 2014
Sampled at the Brewpub in Normal, IL. Went well with my huge hamburger. Ca me in the glass a rich yellow color with some a small white head. Nose of ripe fruit and some floral hops. Medium body. Flavor is very much Belgian in nature with the fruit and hops in good balance on a solid malt base. Some bitterness in the finish. Very nice beer.

Sampled at the Normal brewpub. Clear golden with some bubbles gently moving up. Ma creamyboff white head leaves thick lacing. Belgian notes in the aroma. Yeadt and sugar. Throw gentle fruit in that mix for the flavor. Some harshness from the hops is bitter. A hint of spiciness. A nice beer.

Tap - fari size foamy head, nice medium amber/copper color, nice citrus hop aroma and flavor, with a good malt backbone and some mild yeasty spice - very good overall
