On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark copper with a khaki head. The aroma was cake donuts with hints of oranges. The taste was light bread crust with some peanuts. Where are the hops in this malt monster? I am usually the last guy to crave more hops, but this is almost like they forgot to add half the schedule. My biggest dissapointment from this otherwise overall solid brewer.

Yeah, didn’t seem like an IPA at all. Poured copper with a white head. Not much of an aroma (lack of hops doesn’t help). Was easy to drink, but for the style was a disappointment.

looks like the consensus is that this doesn’t have nearly enough hop presence. I concur...this is a bad impression for a pub to give with an IPA. It is too bad since it was almost a decently drinkable beer, but NOT an IPA.

Well, they called it an IPA. Looked coppery orange with some foamy head. Nose was odd, with some fruity bread notes and chalk. Taste was peculiar, a bit sour and bready, a little floral. Definitely a casualty of the hope shortage...

On-tap, served in a pint glass. L: An hazy orangey copper appearance with a fluffy slightly off-white head that slowly settled into a sudsy skim, a light amount of splotchy lace rings the top of the glass. This is off to a nice looking start. S; A bit malty for an American IPA, but not bad, toasted caramel and grains that are framed by citrus fruity, floral hops. The hops are playing a supporting role to the malts, not as pronounced as a lot of brewpub IPA’s, but still taste inducing. F&T: Light-footed medium body, enough carbonation to give this a creamy crispness, not as airy or firm as I would have liked, but it does have a pleasant feel in the mouth. Like in the aroma, this is not a hop bomb, more of a balanced, middle of the road IPA. Touches of white grapefruit mixed with apricots and sweet flowery blossoms that slide along with the toasted grainy, caramelized malts. Traces of mineral water aid the dry, mildly bitter, hop spicy finish. The spiciness doesn’t linger long in the aftertaste, overall, a pretty clean finale on this IPA. The alcohol is pretty well hidden, I would have never guessed that it had a 7.5% ABV. A balanced, amiable, sociable AIPA, won’t knock your socks off, just a good early evening, after work beer.

The amber body has a slight haze to it and it’s capped by a sustained eggshell head. Plenty of sweet caramel malt in the aroma with the citrus and floral hop scents struggling to assert themselves. Smooth. The flavor is pretty balanced, and I think either the malt bill should be lessened or the amount of bittering hops should be increased to more clearly identify this as an IPA. Still, it had a pleasantly bitter finish that I enjoyed.

(Tap) Pours an amber color with a small off-white head. Smooth, hoppy aroma up front. Taste is more malty than one might expect, with the hops really taking more of a back seat. Slight astringency towards the end. Good mouthfeel and average palate. A rather basic (but good) IPA.
