UPDATED: APR 21, 2011 This beer has seen its up and downs over the past year. The current incarnation is discussed here. Dark pour with tan lacing head. Nose is roast with coffee and grainy notes. Refreshing dry bitterness in the mouth.

a good and drinkable stout. Interesting flavors with any astringency or harshness. This is an approachable beer for a newbie but complex and interesting for a beer nerd

On draft at Isaac Newtons. Nice aromatic notes of coffee and roast. Flavor was dry, very coffee, Earthy and roast. Body was a little thin. Overall not bad.

Draft. Dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Medium body, roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate with slight burnt notes and a dry finish.

On tap @ Destihl. Full black pour with a small off-white head. Aroma is mostly roasted malt and coffee. Slight cookie dough, licorice, and ash. A bit of earth and molasses. The flavor is only lightly sweet with some molasses, dark toffee, and cookie dough. Burnt sugar and lots of roasted malt. A heavy dose of coffee grounds and cocoa powder.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear near black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts with some chalky dark grains and a hint of toffee. Flavor has chalky dark grains and roasted malts with a bit of chocolate.

Sampled at the brewpub. . Came in the tasting glass very black with a beige head. Nose of chocolate roasted malts, and some floral hop;s. Medium body and smooth mouth feel. Flavor is chocolate malts and earthy and floral hops. The finish is roasted malts and some citrus appears in the dry finish.. Nice stout. .

Enjoyed on tap at Destihl in Normal, IL on the way to Springfield for a ridiculous 5k. Appearance is pitch black, moderate consistency, tan head. Aroma of chocolate and light lactose. Taste is decent, mostly roasted chocolate. Decent stuff.

Sampled at the Normal brewpub. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted coffee and some sugar. The taste was of coffee and bitter hops with a very dry and roasted taste on the finish. Not bad.

Sampled at the brewpub. Black with some red. A beige head. The aroma is complexchocolate and roasted notes. Dry chocolate and coffee are tasted first. Loamy earth. Citrus on the back end and some brightness that grows. A nice stout.
