Dark pour with tan lacing head. Nose is roast with coffee and grainy notes. Refreshing dry bitterness in the mouth.

Decent stout with a very savory presence, unsweet and dry cocoa on the tongue. Has a hint of spice- almost a black pepper presence, and slight carbonation with a decent gravity to back this baby up. Would drink again, but not particularly worth seeking out.

A hoppy and roasty stout which I like but it comes off as a bit too one-dimensional.

Overly dry, in my opinion. Could have used a bit more chocolatey sweetness and a bit less burned coffee beans flavor. Aroma and appearance are what you’d expect from this kind of beer. Tried with Nick in Normal in 2012.

Tap at Sugar Maple. The beer pours to a pitch black body with pretty much no head. The aroma is super charred malt. Pretty much black patent meets burnt coffee, but in a really good way. I’d say this is more of a dry stout... The flavor was tons of charred black malts with some light creosote and burnt coffee. I thought it worked pretty well, and I’d drink more of this. Medium body with that dry roasty feel. Alcohol was no where to be found.

Enjoyed on tap at Sugar Maple. Pours a dark brown black with a thin lacy cream head. Smells of heavily roasted coffee and a bit of caramelized sugar. The taste is of coffee and bitter hops with a very dry and roasted taste on the finish.

On tap at DeStihl. Black, rusty beige head. Relatively soft mouthfeel, but rich luscious chocolate cocoa tones. Milder body than you’d expect with the ABV. Quite nice and roasty.

4 oz taster at Champaign, IL location. Asked the waitress for something dark and she delivered. Dark color with a very nice tan head. Really like the smell, and it was pleasantly bitter in the mouth.

on nitro-pours black with a tight tan head and heavy lacing. Aroma is roasty/ashy dark malt, earthy. Taste is roasty/chocolate/molasses-dark malt, 2nd earthy hops. Semi-dry, occasional.

On tap at the Champaign location. Pours a dark black with a dark tan head. Aroma of roasted, charred malt and a hint of coffee and bitter chocolate. Flavor is more sweet, charred malt, almost like an imperial stout it is so heavy in body. Stronger than its 6.7% would imply, but still good.
