3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Champaign brewpub. Pours clear dark amber. Very sweet with good complex fruitiness and a tad of spice and a touch of hops. Good balance. Clean sweet finish. Best thing I had at Destihl.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft on tap at Beer Under Glass 2012 (Chicago, IL). A keg Fred squirreled away. Pours a rich brownish deep hue, glowing amber copper edges throw accents, firm hazinss and frothy tannish head dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are gentle touches of spice, brown sugar, and mellow carmelized malts. Some gentle dark fruit, dried plums, spice, and mellow sweetness. Initial is medium bodied, offering firm darker sweetness, carmelized malts. Gentle spice, brown sugar, and toast. Biscuits, light dark fruit elements meld in. Backend and middle show more fruit flourish, cherry and mellow biscuits, caramel, and spice. Belgian yeast influence is firm but not overdone. Finish cleans up a bit, touches of tart and tangy fruit, some sticky and carmelized malts. Lingering tang. Nice.
