COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This reverse engineered, wild Berliner-Style Weisse is a German-style sour that is very pale in color and is the lightest of all the German wheat beers. The unique combination of wild yeast and lactic fermentation yields a beer that is acidic, lemony-tart, highly attenuated and very light bodied. The carbonation of this Berliner Weisse is high, and hop rates are very low.

Draft at Links in Chicago. Very hazy pale gold. Aroma is very lactic and citric and other general tart yogurt aromas. Flavor is the same to a rather strong extreme. Its almost lemon juice tartness at the very end of the beer. I donít get much malt character, which I would like some more off. Its very light bodied and mainly a citric acid like punch at the end of the flavor. Almost too much acidity without anything balancing it.

On tap @ Destihl. Bright straw colored pour with a white head. Hint of chlorine up front, but otherwise lots of bright lemon and yogurt. Tart apple and yogurt as well. A bit of popcorn and saltines. Flavor is nicely lactic and dry. Strong lemon zest flavor and a good sourness. Some yogurt, grass, and a dry crackery/popcorn malt profile.

Samples from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice combination of yogurt, wheat and a lemony tartness. Flavor has a great lemony tartness with a bit wheat and a nice dry finish.

On tap @ Avery Sour Fest 2014. Pour is clear golden with a small white head and decent lacing. Lacto, salt, lemons, dough, biscuits, and light vanilla in the aroma. Taste is lemon zesty, yogurt, somewhat cheesy, pears, green apples and lime juice. Medium body with soft carboantion. Pretty nice Berliner.

On tap @ Avery Sour Fest 2014. Pours a cloudy, light yellow appearance with a white head. Aroma was pretty dull- maybe a touch of corn - along with some lemon twanginess and a hint of lactic. Actually quite tart flavor with a nice dose of lactic acid. Some pineapple and lemony notes. Finishes pretty dry and tart. Low sweetness and bitterness. Pretty good.

Taster on tap at Upland Sourfest. Mildly hazy golden color. Thin ring of off-white head. 2 dots of lace. Good funky berliner sour taste. Interesting sweaty funky gym mustiness. Salty and sweaty. Bigger sour taste. Mild sweet. Lighter body. Smooth, light soft, light crisp carbonation. Light slick finish. Solid, interesting brew.

tap at Old Crown - Pours hazy yellow with a very small head. It smells tart with lemon coming to the fore. The taste is also very tart. Iíve only had a few beers of this style but this one seems on the high end for tartness and lactic fermentation character. Itís light bodied and pretty good, in my opinion, but more acidic than I would like.
