COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Our mission for this Imperial or ’Double’ India Pale Ale is to overload the beer with hops for an intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma while still being balanced by a big malt profile, resulting in a hoppy beer with more dimension. This beer is light copper in color with some hop haze from overloading with dry hops as well. World Beer Championships Award: Bronze Medal 2011

Pours clear honey color with gigantic head that keeps lasting. Nose is grass, fruit, grapefruit. Body is oily, with grass, slightly bitter, good amount of caramel sweetness. Good, but balance just doesn’t seem to be there, some metallic harshness.

Pour out of 12 oz can, hazy dark orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of veggie, rotten fruits, some slight orange peel and caramel, jammy notes into a bit of pine, slight spice. Taste is rotten fruits, veggie, butter, some caramel, toffee into a bit of orange, slight pine and resinous notes into a bit of yeast, finishing buttery. Yikes.

12 oz can. Pours clear copper amber with a medium frothy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is subdued - sweet caramel malt with some alcoholic hops.

The flavor is sweet caramel malts with a pretty big piney resiny hop finish and quite a bit of alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent DIPA. I liked this much better on tap. It was very hazy with more fruit and less alcohol. This tastes a bit like Arrogant Bastard.

Draft to mini-snifter at Destihl. Looks solid; malty though. A fairly transparent copperish orange with off-white head. Smells sweet and sticky with some hops in the background. Tastes Like it smells with a fuller-bodied mouthfeel. A sticky malt bomb.

Pours a cloudy copper with thick off white head. Nice lacing left throughout. Has a citrus, caramel, bread, and earthy aroma. Sweet tart taste upfront that finished mildly bitter. Flavors of pine, tart fruits, caramel, and earthy notes. Medium body that was sticky on the palate. Was a solid DIPA overall.

Pours a golden amber color with a tall soapy head. Aroma of resin, caramel, biscuit, and grass. Intense flavor with heavy resin, biscuit, and caramel sweetness. Good lacing.

On tap & Chuck’s 85th. Pours cloudy reddish copper with very thin off white head. Aroma is dark caramel malt and tart dark fruit on the back with just a hint of floral hops. Taste is somewhat heavy sweet caramel malt, light tartness, and bitter hops on the finish. Not bad, but no reason to recommend this either. The tart notes seem wildly out of place. The first disappointing effort from Destihl I’ve had.
