COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Our mission for this Imperial or ’Double’ India Pale Ale is to overload the beer with hops for an intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma while still being balanced by a big malt profile, resulting in a hoppy beer with more dimension. This beer is light copper in color with some hop haze from overloading with dry hops as well. World Beer Championships Award: Bronze Medal 2011

Hoppy, but not an overload, I enjoyed, crisp and citrusy. If it had more of a finished hop I would rate it higher.

Pours a clear amber with a medium sized, smooth white head. The aroma is heavier in pine and caramel, to go along with impressions of resin, bread, and herbal hops. The taste is bitter and sweet. Pine and caramel are still most noticeable, though these are complimented with a fruitiness of grapefruit, orange, and mango. Mild and sweet mango aftertaste. Medium in body, sticky texture, and average in carbonation. Not bad. It definitely doesn’t taste or feel like a 9.6% beer.

Foamer. Amber colored pour. Huge off white head. Plenty of lacing. Caramel aroma some hops. Taste is malt, hops, and caramel.

12 oz. can. Pours amber orange with a thin soapy white head that settles to a thin wispy film and collar. Aroma is sweet caramel astringent old hops and bitter. Taste is very bitter sweet caramel hops that are faded and limp with an astringent aftertaste. Palate is medium full spicy with a light burn. Somewhat harsh.

It’s interesting to have it so malt forward with the name Hoperation Overload. Odd finishing bitterness. Maybe like it’s old, but that could be my fault. I lost it in the back of the fridge.

Enough malt to cover the alcohol and add a really nice mouth feel. Low bitterness for style.

Can poured to pint glass. Carmel color, malty aroma. I like malt- forward IIPA’s, but this one pegs the meter! My palate didn’t pick up anything else.

Can. Caramelly malts. Dark amber body with a think off white head and excellent lace. Plentiful bubbling in the body. Not realizing this was a double IPA when I first took a sip, thinking instead it was an APA or IPA, my first impression was that it was very malt forward. Even now knowing it’s an IIPA I have that same opinion. It’s also fairly hot. Good beer but middle of the road for an IIPA.

This is a hop bomb for sure. More of a West Coast style IPA. Semi-clearish medium yellow to light orange appearance. Could use a little more malt for flavor and character, but the hop is where this is heading. I like the fact that these Midwest brewers are starting to distribute here in FL. Looking forward to sampling more.

4-pack of 12 oz cans on sale for $3.99 at Supermarket Liquors. Clear amber appearance with a sticky, lingering tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, pine, resinous hops and a touch of alcohol. Similar flavor, adding heavy hop bitterness and mild malt sweetness. Medium to full body. Almost harsh and kind of hard to drink. Tastes old. 150130 on the bottom of the can so I’m assuming it’s about 6 months old. Pairing: Phish - Set One - 7/29/2015 - (Live Stream)
