GTMW 2011. Poured a hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate complex hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration. Solid beer.

On tap at the GTMW 2011. Chill hazed amber with a thin tan head. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, caramel and a slight bit of resinous hops. Taste is tropical and resinous with citrus, mango, slight pine, caramel and a touch of alcohol. Finish isn’t as bitter as I’d expect and the beer is decent overall.

Draft at the Great Taste. Pours a lightly hazed gold with amber highlights. Head starts strong then dissipates. The nose is a touch subdued, some caramel and then some robust citrusy notes. A hint of catty tropical fruits does come through as well. On taste, big bitterness that is balanced by a rich malt body. A touch on the sweet side for me, but it works alright. More citrus and fruity hops. Pretty solid overall, but not up may alley.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Normal, IL). Pours a nice deep glowing amber golden hue, orange shine, with pretty flowing carbonation, a decent sized whitish head dies to an ok film, laces ok overall. Aromas are a deep mellow orange citrus appeal, big tropical fruit come into play, mangos and papayas seem to scream "Simcoe", with some bready malts, gumballs, and citrus rind. Really fruity hop nose. Initial is a bit heavier handed on hops, good bitterness pairs into citrusy lemon and oranges, florals, and grass. Touches of dry bitterness linger on with some bread and biscuits. Dries out into the backend with a touch of soapiness, fruity mellow sweet tropical fruits. Warming alcohol hits me on the back of the palate with a strong bitter hop finish. Touches of sweeter malts hit here and there, but overall it’s quite hop dominant, some perfumey florals into the backend. Finish is long and lingering hops, dry bitterness, and touches of alcohol. Pretty nice DIPA here suffering only from a noticeable ABV heat into the finish. It’s hopped well, but not bracing bitter.. Instead picking up a lot of flavorful fruity hop related flavors. Quite nice, worth a go if you see it on.
