ft at sugar maple. Man this beer is awful, totally underattenuated, flat, soo malty and oxidized, baffled by the reviw below.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated on 4-01-2016. The appearance of this canned beer is a medium sized beige head that is mostly lasting, transparent dark amber body, lively, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is citrus hops, grapefruit, earthy, and caramel malt. The flavor presents medium-heavy bitterness, citrus hops, toasty, caramel malt, sweet, and a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium-full bodied. A very quaffable sipping beer with a lingering hoppy aftertaste that tasted good on behalf of another frustrating day.

May have been good at one point, but caramel and cardboard malt with hints of what might have been does not a good IIPA make. Of all the damn rules surrounding beer, why is dating not mandated?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear amber with a medium sized, smooth white head. The aroma is heavier in pine and caramel, to go along with impressions of resin, bread, and herbal hops. The taste is bitter and sweet. Pine and caramel are still most noticeable, though these are complimented with a fruitiness of grapefruit, orange, and mango. Mild and sweet mango aftertaste. Medium in body, sticky texture, and average in carbonation. Not bad. It definitely doesnít taste or feel like a 9.6% beer.

12 oz. can. Pours amber orange with a thin soapy white head that settles to a thin wispy film and collar. Aroma is sweet caramel astringent old hops and bitter. Taste is very bitter sweet caramel hops that are faded and limp with an astringent aftertaste. Palate is medium full spicy with a light burn. Somewhat harsh.

Itís interesting to have it so malt forward with the name Hoperation Overload. Odd finishing bitterness. Maybe like itís old, but that could be my fault. I lost it in the back of the fridge.

Enough malt to cover the alcohol and add a really nice mouth feel. Low bitterness for style.

Can. Caramelly malts. Dark amber body with a think off white head and excellent lace. Plentiful bubbling in the body. Not realizing this was a double IPA when I first took a sip, thinking instead it was an APA or IPA, my first impression was that it was very malt forward. Even now knowing itís an IIPA I have that same opinion. Itís also fairly hot. Good beer but middle of the road for an IIPA.
