Sampled on tap at Oak Park MicroBrew Review (Oak Park, IL). Snuck away for some rates while pouring today. Pours a nice brownish hue, amber glowing edges with smaller offwhite frothy filmy head that dies to small ring. Aromas are dry earthy brown malts, toast, and some touches of toffee. Biscuits a plenty, but quite dry, decent dry earthy hopping. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied with a healthy toast, dry floral and earthy hops. Some touches of tobbacco, toffee sweetness. Backend throws some more dryness, with florals and grass, toast and touches of roast. Earthy brown malt and biscuity sweetness. I’m a fan, a touch more heavy handed on the hops and I’d really be doing a India Brown rating. Finish is dry and toasty, sweetness stays at bay. Really nice. Earthy and dry, yet a sufficient malt component lays the groundwork for some brown malts, biscuits, toast. Really dug this, could drink a lot of it.

on tap-pours copper with a disappearing offwhite head. Aroma is musty/roasty/peat-medium malt, earthy. Taste is musty/roasty/peat/caramel-medium malt, some earthy hops, plum. Towards medium body.

Draught at the Normal location. Pours orange-brown with offwhite head. The aroma is caramel, butter, some fruit. The flavor is caramel and intense citrus hop bitterness. Doesn’t seem very well-thought-out, more like a homebrew experiment.

Pour is an amber brown with offwhite head. Nose is slightly sweet with notes of burnt sugars. Very balanced flavour with a slight roast or bitter chocolate finish. Superb job striking the balance of not-too-sweet and bitter. Great beer to enjoy with dinner. This beer was also featured on cask. The cask has been dry hopped with c-hops. Notable differences included a fresh grassy aroma and a stronger bitter component in the mouth. Very enjoyable.
