Sampled at Destihl. It pourd a dark copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of caramel malt, some fruit, cabernet and a hint of tannins. The taste was of some red wine and honey notes to go with the caramel malt. Good beer.

From a sample glass at the Normal brewpub. This came in the glass an attractive red color the had a small tan head nose of caramel malts and grassy hops. Medium in body and smooth of mouth feel. Flavor is malty, with good hops in the taste and nice hop bitterness in the finish. Nice drinking.

Samled at Destihl Normal. A red hazy beer that has nice lacing from a tan head. Sweet malts and caramel makes for a sweet beer. Some interesting hops. Grass and citrus. Brightness to them. Very easy to drink this one.

4 oz. taster at the Champaign, IL brewpub. Pours red with a light head... a very colorful beer that catches the light. Everyone in the group commented on this. The flavor was milder and great as a drink with dinner.

Draft at Champaign location. Pours a deep reddish bronze with an offwhite head. The nose is nice. Light fruity hop notes then a caramel note. Some soft fruity esters. On tasting, mild fruitiness and caramel, light malt base. the bitterness is on the high side. Light malt flavor overall. Pretty solid.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Champaign, IL). My first visit. Pours a nice fairly transparent glowing darker copper pour. A small frothy whitish head sits atop, laces small, rings. Aromas are crisp toffee, toast, and biscuits. Touches of caramel dance with a small earthy and gentle hop presence, more toast and toffee, decent sweetness, with just a faint hiss of dark fruit. Initial is lighter bodied, offering a healthy toast and dryness up front, dry florals and toast, touches of biscuits and toffee into the middle, gentle touch of raisin. Faint cocoa. Quite dry and light body, with just jabs of maltiness. Finish is nutty and earthy, dry, touches of earthy malts, mellow sweetness largely blocked out by earth. Huge nutty and toasty presence, some gentle sweetness, crystal is minimal, dry hops. Not bad, lots of earth peanuts and toast. Not necessarily my style.
