Belgian Style Fruit Lambic (Framboise) aged over two and a half years in a red wine barrel.

3.5yr version on tap at GABF. Pours with a hazed copper to golden hued body with a minimal white head. Aromas are of vanillin, wood, oak, tart, cherries, musty funky and very acidic with only a mild acetic bite. Flavors are super acidic, bright cherries, wood, dry and acidic. Lovely!

On tap (FoBAB 2011) : The aroma consists of big tart raspberries, sour lemon, and a touch of acetone. It’s a transparent abmer with a touch of haze and a small off-white ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of tart raspberries before quickly being overtaken by mouthpuckering sour lemon and a touch of acetone. It’s light bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, this reminds me of a slightly more mild version of the good bottles of the Hanssens Experimental Raspberry that I’ve had.

draft... the only Detihl sour that I thought was truly good and gave me hope that Forsaken was not a fluke... this is really sour but I like it way, lactic acidic and really nice tart raspberries... try this one

FOBAB 2011. Extremely sour. However, there’s enough fruit flavors going on here to keep it interesting and palatable. Actually one of the better sours I had at FOBAB even though my rating doesn’t really show it.

(Draught) Pours a light hazy golden pink body with a small white head. Aroma of raspberries, barnyard, and caramel. Flavor of raspberries, vinous, caramel, light balsamic, and some citrus with a moderately dry wood finish.

On tap at GABF says aged for 4 years, pour was almost milky reddish pink with white head, aroma brought nice notes of raspberry, grapes, lots of funk and lemony lactic notes. Taste is very, very sour, lots of big lemony lactic notes but with a nice sweet and tart raspberry note, nice funky fruit skins and dusty barnyard, some cheesy notes, finishing tart and lemony, more raspberries in there as well. Really nice stuff.

sample at GABF on 9/20/11. light red pour with a small off white head. tart rasp nose. med body - nice sourness / lactic acid presence - tart rasp. semi-dry tart rasp finish with more sour bacteria.

Sampled at GABF 2011. Let me preface this by stating that I tried all of the sour ales (all 6) that Destihl brought to GABF and they were all fantastic. As I was sampling I noticed Vinnie Cilurzo from Russian River had made his way behind the booth to talk to the brewer and sample as well (he knows a thing or 2 about great sour beers). Of the beers I tried this was the last of the 6, the only one I made notes on, and probably the best (although the Strawberry Ale and Sour Barley Wine were both different and quite nice). This one pours dark orange for lack of a better color descriptor. Light and pleasantly sour nose. Stunningly sour flavor, possibly the most sour beer I have ever tried, with noticeable lemons and raspberries. Outstanding.

Tap @ FoBAB. The other Destihl beer I tried, not as good as the Sour Trappist Wheat Ale. Pours clearish dark yellow, lots of acidity in the aroma, red fruit, vinegar. Decent brew.

sampled at fobab 2010. thanks to fred for getting me a pour of this.... appplce cidery appearance with a thin soapy head... aroma of pickles, and vinegar, quite a bit of aciditiy there with faded red fruits and cherry in the background... flavors had a pungent acetone and vinegar kick that left a mild burn during consumption. i’m still sort of a sucker for the extreme acidic sours such as this so it wasn’t all that bad.
